Chapter 21: The Will of a Mother
(A/N s/o to my best friend ChildOfMyth! I couldn't have done this chapter without you <3)
"The flower that blooms in adversity is most rare and beautiful of all." -The Emporer, Mulan
Sasuke-- he was.. Gone. No where to be seen. This was impossible, the chakra chain, that means it was-- "sorry cutie, your precious little traveling buds are a little preoccupied. Probably freak
Meat as we speak." Sakura snarled, "You." She said with a rather intense hatred.Didn't this guy have a life? Didn't he have anything better to do other than try to make the journey harder? Couldn't he just take care of his beef with Mr. Uchiha on their own time? None of these statements had answered her previous question though...
"Where is he? How were you able to break the cuff without--" "He's not dead if that's what you're implying. Not yet at least. Look here doll face, I split that chain right in two, no problem. I have much more power than accredited for." Said Yami. He had been toying with her like a lion stalked its' prey.
Now, when was he to pounce?"If you're so strong.." The cherry blossom said, rising to her feet and slowly slipping her frosty hands into the loosely warn cloak rested on her shoulders. "How'd you manage that pretty little scar from shoulder to shoulder, doll face?" The pinkette mocked just as she pulled on both gloves.
Suddenly that cocky sadistic and almost charming grin had deteriorated from Yami's face. It had now morphed to something of collected business, as he'd licked his lips in an eerie attempt to begin his next statement. The mans tongue was long, jagged, dry, and appeared to be something of a true mutation. "Don't think I haven't forgotten about our last rondevu. Your stunt back at the hills took out a couple of my buddies, and I've been thinking about you since. Besides...-" he started, but soon disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"I just had to get you alone and see what the inside of a heart that beat for another monster must look like-- as it withdrew its last few beats." He mused this whisper in the heroine's ear just as that hoarse tongue slid painfully slow across her bare neck. In an instant the pinkette in his hold bursted into a cloud of nothingness, as the true Haruno watched from a tree nearby.
"Oh, you like playing games pinkey? Well you're in for a show! Because I do too!"
The jade haired man pushed off the ground with a sonic boom, flying up to the tree the pinkette resided in, landing right next to her in barely a second. Sakura hadn't even had time to move a muscle. Yami smiled at her, flashing soft red stained teeth. "This is going to be fun, I can promise you that."
The rosette gritted her teeth in distaste before bringing her elbow back into her opponent while springing forward at the same time to flee, hand in the holster attached to the pinkette's side. 'I need a strategy..'
"Aw come on doll..." Yami cooed, standing to walk over the side of the branch, sticking to it to stand upside down on the wood. He smiled sickeningly sweet. "Play with me." With that, he flipped off the branch and landed on the ground, where he remained.
He wanted her to attack him, to play in his demented little game. But if she didn't, he'd loose intrest and follow her anyways, killing her without the entertainment. He hoped she'd attack, in fact he was anticipating it, licking his lips in excitement.
'I could run and find Sasuke, but-- no.. Not today..' Ricocheting off the ground with one foot, Sakura launched for the skies, and turned. Now airborne, she faced the demented player and made her move.
