Underneath (Foundation/Pre-write)

Chapter 4

When we got back to our room, Kota set the bed next to mine. I walked over to my bed and started pushing it towards Kota's. When we finished we all sat on our beds.

Looking around the room I noticed two doors on the farthest wall.

"Which one do you think is the bathroom?" Kota asked.

"Well pick one and if it's not a bathroom, don't pee in it." I said, maintain a serious face.

He opened the one on the left. It looked like a well sized hallway. There were two rows of clothes and a door at the end. He entered the cool looking closet and headed for the door.

"Don't Die!" I shouted after him. Me and Arey sat on our beds and watched.

"Aha! A bathroom!" A muffle voice said from the cool closet. I went into the closet to see what change of clothes I had the option of. On the first shirt hung up, there was a note.

To our new guest! Dirties go in the clothes chute in the bathroom. Return deliveries are Fridays and Wednesdays. You will get your job schedules in two days. You have a virtual mail device by your door, you will receive your daily chores there and any normal mail.

I walked over to the screen by the door. I tapped the empty screen to activate it. The screen faded on and it read "Enter pin" Kota had taken the paper and read it as well. He was just about to toss the paper into our trash chute.

"Hey hey hey hey!" I said running towards him and snatching the paper from his hands. "Remember this code, 2862." I said walking back over to the screen. I punched in the code. The screen said there was one new message. There were multiple apps to select from, but the mail is the one with a notification by it.

You are most likely here because of the note. The room is your's until you two leave, so treat it with care. Same thing with the clothes. Enjoy your stay.

Print off the extra file for your temporary chores.

So I did as I was told and printed off two pieces of paper. There was a paper thin slit under the screen that spit the paper out at me. I handed the page with Kota's name on it to him and began to read mine.

"What chore do you have first?" Kota asked as he read his paper.

"8:00 I have breakfast serving. That ends at 9:00." I said, still reading my schedule.

"Ha! I have cleaning duty in the medical wing 9-12." He said chuckling. We both set our pages on the desk between the two doors.

"My whole day is serving as a lunch lady, but all the rest is break." I said looking up to Kota. "But what do we do with Arey?" I turned my attention to her. She was asleep on her bed, all cuddled up in her blankets. I went to the screen to check the time, 9:37. I used the clock application and turned it so there was an alarm for 6:30 on week days and me and Kota had weekends off, so those days 7.

"The lights automatically go off at 10, but that's just something I've heard." Kota said leading me to our beds. We still have about 20 minutes for that, so I flip the switch off before Kota could pull me to far away. I crawled back into the bed with him and cuddled up against his chest. He pulled the blanket up to my shoulders and up to his mid-chest.

"Goodnight Kaity." Kota said petting my hair back. I snuggled even closer.

"Goodnight Kota."
