Chapter 3

"I challenge you to a battle!" a green-haired boy said. My partner tilted her head in my arms.

The Kahuna walked over to him, "Now now boy, that's not how you introduce yourself is it?" he laughed.

The boy nodded his head. He had a big goofy grin on his face. "I'm Hau! Let's have a battle!"

"Sorry about my grandson," Hala apologized. "He's a little excitable"

I smiled, "I'll accept your challenge Hau!"

I looked down at the Pokémon in my arms "What do ya say, Ariel? Wanna battle?"

"Bwark!" Ariel cried and leaped out of my arms.

"Awesome!" Hau cheered sending out a tiny owl Pokémon.

"This is my partner Artemis! She's no slouch just to let ya know!" Hau introduced.

"Careful..." Lillie warned, "Rowlet is a grass type"

"We'll win. Trust me, Lillers" I said, confident.

"Um that's not-" Lillie began.

"The battle between Luna and Hau will begin now! Luna will have the first move! Begin!" Hala announced.

"Um okay...Ariel what kind of moves can you use?" I asked sheepishly.

Ariel let loose a deep growl from her throat.

"Growl, okay..."

"Just like a siren Pokémon!" Hau observed. "Artemis-Leafage!"

The small owl let loose a tiny barrage of green leaves and hurled it in Ariels direction.

Hmm.

"Ariel, slam your tail on the ground!" I commanded. Ariel slammed her tail on the dirt and the force launched her in the air, just avoiding the attack.

"Tackle!"

I didn't actually know if she knew Tackle, but worth a shot right?

Ariel aimed her body at Artemis and the attack hit.

Artemis faltered a bit, but didn't hesitate a Peck attack which hit Ariel.

Artemis moved away from Ariel, waiting for another command from her trainer.

What do I do? I thought.

~Ariel sang in happiness and blew a small bubble from her nose. It popped in my face and my face became wet.~

That's it!

"Ariel spin and use Bubble!"

Ariel stood on her tail and started using a Bubble attack while spinning like a top.

The entire field became filled with bubbles, hitting Artemis over and over.

"Finish it with Tackle!"

Ariel emerged from the wall of bubbles, and rammed into Artemis at full force. The bubbles exploded and sparkled as they popped. Once the field was clear, everyone was able to see that Hau's Pokémon had fainted.
