The smell of freshly cut grass filled Alice's nose, it was an oddly calming scent to her. Alice was brushing her long brown hair, her dark brown eyes gazed to her mother. "Why do I have to go" she said annoyed. Her grandparents wanted her for themselves for the whole summer. The sixteen year old then looked away trying to avoid her mother's chastising. "Alice! Your grandparent's live in a lovely place in...in..." her mom tried to think before she let out a long solemn sigh.

"See! It's in the middle of nowhere" Alice frowned, "There's probably no internet, nothing!". Her mother shook her head "Alice be more grateful... ", Alice fumed "Grandma is crazy though! She believes in that stupid Faery and it doesn't exist!". Suddenly Alice could feel her mother grab her wrist harshly "Don't talk about your Grandma like that or you'll get a smack in the mouth!". Alice quietly mumbled an apology and got back putting suit cases into the trunk of their 2009 ford.

Alice sighed and got into the car, she waited for her mom and after about ten minutes her mom was in the car. "Okay, so we're going to try to get their as soon as possible". Alice just nodded, though her mind wondered elsewhere. She was thinking about her Grandma, and how she believed in faeries, Alice thought it was a odd thing to believe in.

Alice's mother looked over at her, "Alice I know you don't want to go" She sighed "I don't want you to go either". Alice looked at her mother oddly, surprised "Why?" she said confused and curious. "Because, I think your grandmother is crazy" she then looked down sadly. Alice thought for a moment, she knew her grandmother was crazy but she didn't think her mom would think the same thing. "Don't tell her I said that" her mother then said sharply.

Alice quietly nodded, they were now on the highway which was oddly empty. "Hmm, good no traffic." Alice's mom grinned as she sped up a bit. Alice looked out the windows longingly. "It's not like you had many friends to hang out with" her mom said bitterly. "Mom! What about Kimberly and Allen? Or Sarah...or...or" her mother then smiled "Honey, Kimberly and Allen are on vacation and Sarah moved a long time ago, you can't fool me".

Alice pouted, how could her mother pick on her like that? She knew Alice didn't like to talk to people, people were to confusing for her! "Brighten up Alice. Your grandparents live in a lovely place and I bet there are cute boys!". Alice's face scrunched up "Ew mom, your not allowed to talk like that". Her mother just laughed.

Alice and her mother had been driving for three hours now. Alice looked out the window tiredly. "I've counted to ten thousand at least five times by now" she said out of boredom. "Just do that about five more times and you should be asleep" her mother smiled. "Not funny" Alice looked away. She sighed and looked at a sign and read out "West-Bury" excitedly. "See you are excited!" her mother smiled, "Am not! I'm only excited that we finally got here" Alice rolled her eyes.

Her mom was still driving, "They live on the other side of the town. Shouldn't be hard to find them, this place is small". Alice slowly nodded, it was much more different than Toronto. Toronto was busy, but this place was quiet and peaceful. After driving for about another hour they got to the other side of town. They pulled up in a bumpy drive way.

Alice hopped out of the car, she looked at the small house. She walked around seeing a backyard which was huge and led to a forest. She sighed seeing her old frail grandmother walk out of the house. "Hey Grandma Lucy " she smiled kindly. Her grandmother just hugged her mother then her. Alice was scared to break the old frail women in half. She was wearing her usual night gown which was silky and had short sleeves.

"Alice you've grown, you're so beautiful" the old women said in a gravely voice. Alice just smiled and nodded. "Amanda you look like you haven't aged a day!". Amanda, Alice's mother just nodded. Alice remembered the last time she saw her grandmother was when she was only five. "Well mom, I have to go. My husband needs to be picked up from work". Amanda rushed away into the car and left. "Thanks mom..." Alice muttered under her breath.
