"Ready for tomorrow, sweetheart" mum said
"sure you could say that" I say nervously, this year is a new start and beginning of my life, year 8 this is going to be hard as well as keeping up with the classes I think to myself. My names Kyla and I'm 13 turning 14 this year, I look like my mum everyone says; tall, brown eyes, skinny and more compliments from my family. My father died in a car accident, mum told me that I was only a bub when he died and that she loved him to bits, blah blah blah the story could be written in a book if she kept on going on about him. What's even worse is that my two brothers Kyle and John are always on my back they say they're just watching out for me just encase something happens.
The typical over protective brothers with a mother who worries a lot, but who can blame her she just doesn't want to lose another person that she loves. My life is pretty tense but I have a loving family to go with it who are always there when I need help. I start school tomorrow while my brothers start university Kyle is two years older than John who's only 20.My mum god a job promotion and is now the manager at Harolds' Bar, so she isn't home until late at night so it's just me and my brothers at home.
"Hey, sis come help me pick something to wear" John asks, he always asks for my opinion on what he wears since he thinks I have a good taste in clothing (which is not true)
" Sure, what are you looking to wear tomorrow" I ask. We spent six hours trying to figure out what he wanted to wear until he liked what I picked out.
"Rise and shine squirt" I hear Kyle say waking me up by opening my tattered curtains in my room, I groan and pull the blanket over my face trying to block the light from outside.
John enters my room and puts my school clothes on my study desk that's when mum yells for us to come down and have some breakfast.
"you excited for today squirt" Kyle asks
"I guess, I'm a little nervous but happy since I get to see Sasha, Brooklyn and Kate today" I say excitedly
"That's good" Mum say in a sooth voice "now I'm gonna be working a little bit late tonight since I need to keep things on track you three be good okay" mum tells us.
"Mum, when have we ever been bad" Kyle Jokes. Last year when mum worked late on night Kyle thought it would be a good idea to throw a party while mum was out (spoiler alert: he failed) everything got destroyed and the house was a mess. Mum gave Kyle a serious look and then smiled at him. John and I just gave each other glances and carried on eating our pancakes that mum had made.
Kyle and John dropped me off at school. I stood at the front of the school and let out a long sigh "Kyla!" I hear Kate call my name and I got a big shock she'd change her hair and grew taller, Kate used to have dark hair but now she changed her whole look to blond it kind of suited her. As she walked towards me I saw that Sasha was also walking towards me she too had changed she used to have reddish hair but now her hair was changed to a darker brown.
The only person we had to wait for was Brook but there was no sign of her must be running late I though until the three of us heard a voice behind us "Hey guys" it was Brook
and she had shown up with her phone in her hand and glasses on her head as usual. "wow kate looking good you're rocking that look" Brook said smiling "Nice look Sasha trying something different" she said as she turned to me "Kyla" she squealed, I winced "h-hey Brook" I stuttered.
"you're still that same Kyla" she laughed
"looks like the squads back" Kate said
"Definitely" Sasha said quietly
"Let's hope we're in the same class together" Isay smiling. The school bell rang and we all ran to our homeroom sitting at theback of the class room and talking about our holidays and what we did ourteacher walked through the door and everyone got into their seatingarrangement; Kate, me, Sasha & Brook in a line one beside the other.
"Welcome back to school, did everyone enjoy their holidays?" Mrs. Grands asked,half of the class moaned and the other half stayed silent. "Well, this year we have a new student" Mrs. Grands gesture for someone to come and stand next to her.
