I couldn't make out much of the she-demon, except for her beady red eyes above the silver trash can she was perched on and her silhouette. Conveniently, she was also in cat form. She was slender and thin; solid black with large eyes and paws. Her fur was much shorter than mine, and I could tell she was passing as a Bombay. But her flame-red eyes were what had drawn me in her direction. I knew humans would see them as gold or green, but angels, animals, and other mystic beings do not have the sight ignorance humans tend to bear.

I kept my eyes fixated on her; she did the same, and our backs both arched as if we were about to fight over the last scrap of food somebody had left behind.

"You better be on your way." I snarled. "Your kind has no business here."
"Oh, is that so? I don't know, I have been having so much fun up here, though. And besides, we demons are just as entitled to the human race, as your kind is. Aren't we the reason you work in the first place? Hmm?" Her voice was soft, eerie and echoed off of the walls of the alley. I could tell by her tone, that she was trying to upset me; it was working, I admit. She hopped down from her shiny perch, and headed towards me. I began to tense up and my arched back lowered; I sat down still.

"Why are you afraid?" Seeing her up close, I realized it wasn't as bad as I had thought previously. She was young, perhaps an adolescent. Her horns were yet to form, and I assumed why she was on earth was for that reason. She still had to earn them.

"I am not afraid. I just wasn't really expecting your presence until just now." I muttered.

"Mhmm. Sure. You know... It's a sin to lie, right?" Maybe dealing you will be easier than expected." She was now circling me in a walk. I kept quiet.

"Do you know who I am?"

"No, and I don't wish to find out." I replied sternly.

"Well, that's too bad, because I know you who YOU are, and I know why you're here. Do you know why I am here? I stayed silent; I grew impatient with her antics and lifted myself to walk away. She stopped me in my path. She got face-to-face with me and  I stared deep into her crimson eyes.

"I am here to make you fail."

"That isn't going to happen. I am an angel, and you're a demon. If anybody here is failing, it will be you." I turned around to walk away, I took a few paw-steps before hearing her voice once more.

"We will see. I look forward to seeing you again." I growled turned around to face her, but there was nothing more of her to face. She had vanished, and I came to the conclusion that perhaps I may be turning to insanity.
