I stand in front of Oka, holding my arms out to shield her from the boys. They all burst into laughter. Until I pull the box cutter from my pocket. "Hey. What's that for? What're you gonna do with it?" I growl and lunge forward quickly. They scatter fast. "Ayano-chan? W-why did you?" I turn. "They were hurting you." I reach my hand out and she takes it. Pulling her up, I feel a strange sensation in my stomach. Her hands are so warm. Her eyes are filled with unshed tears. The sensation grows as Oka searches my face. "Do you want me to walk you home?" she nods. As we begin to walk out, the sakura tree blossoms drift towards us. One ends up in Oka's hair. She goes to brush it away, and I feel my hand rise up to take her wrist. "Leave it. It looks...pretty against your hair." Her pale face brightens in a red blush. "R-really? Thanks." I realise what I said, and a tingling feeling spreads across my face.

When we reach Oka's home, she looks up at me. I'm just slightly taller. "I owe you, A-Ayano." "You owe me nothing." "B-but-" I cut her off by raising my hand. She bites her lip. She's blushing. "Oka. I uh...I'll watch out for you." I stay until her mother opens the door. I explain what happened. She puts her arm around Oka and smiles at me.

I return to my own home, sinking to the couch with a sigh. The feeling has left me, and new one has taken over. Why did I think she was beautiful with that flower? She is beautiful but...Senpai? I love...Taro? No...wait...Oka-senpai? That sounds nice. No! I'm in love with Taro! He'll be mine! With that confident thought, I retire to my room.
