I was freaked out. My heart started racing watching the scene. I ran as fast as I could. I wanted to at least try to save him or her. I tried covering my ears from the noise as it got louder.
While running to save the person, I ran across miles of woods and forests. It was so dark, I could barely see my hand in front of my face. It was impossible.
No, you can do this, I thought. Just through these woods and I can save them.
With that, I ran into the woods. Branches poking me from all sides. I was stepping on braches here and there and felt around to make sure I didn't hit anything. I was more than halfway through the woods now. It was fine and I wasn't worried about the darkness anymore.
Then-BAM!-straight dead on a tree, I hit my head hard. I tripped over some branches I guess and hit face first on the tree in front of me.
"Shoot," I whisper-screamed as I rubbed my head. I felt a knot on my head and a few-scars?-forming. No time for this, I ran out of the woods and looked around. The person was still falling, almost to the ground. I ran towards them quickly but when I got there, they were already down to the ground.
"No!" I screamed. I dove to the ground. I couldn't believe it. I caught them I actually caught them. I smiled but soon that smile kind of faded and I became shocked.
I looked at the person carefully. It was a guy. Shirtless with blackish looking hair. He slowly opened his eyes. They were a warm and loving brown.
"Who are you?" He asked silently.
"I'm, uh, Aubina," I struggled to say.
"I'm Augustus," he whispered. "Thank you for saving me."
"No problem," I said hesitantly. "Why were you falling from the sky?"
"I rather not say," Augustus replied in a low voice. I looked down. He got up. "I rather... well." He turned around where his back was facing me. I was shocked and jerked back a little. I lifted my arm touching his back. It didn't seem to bother him at all.
"What are these?" I asked.
"Scars. Angel Scars."
"You... You're an angel?"
"I lost my wings and Heaven doesn't want me. I'm not even allowed here on Earth."
I was shocked. I felt my eyes burn with tears. "Why?"
"What?"
"Why?"
"'Why?'"
"Why were you not allowed in Heaven?"
"I really don't remember, I hit my head pretty hard one day so I don't remember a lot from this week," he said.
I looked down. What am I supposed to do? We are both homeless with no where else to go. I started to cry thinking about my brother. I looked at my watch. 11:23 PM. I yawned a bit and shivered. I got up and grabbed my bag.
"Where are you going?" Augustus asked.
"Follow me," I kind of whispered. His eyes grew wide as he stood up.
We walked in silence for most of the time. All I could was think about Bruno and Mama. I haven't seen Mama since her and dad divorced. She moved away to Nevada and rarely visits. Bruno lives really close to Mama so he can see her everyday if he wanted. I admit I am jealous. Mama was always there for me. She would sing to me and teach me to cook. My dad doesn't do that. All he does is abuse me and get drunk.
"What's wrong?" Augustus asked being the first to break the silence. He must have noticed the tears on my face.
"Nothing. I'm fine."
"Aubina, what is wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Aubina," Augustus said wrapping his arms around me. "What is wrong? Why are you crying?"
"I ran away from home," I said. "My dad abuses me and my brother is leaving me soon. My mom... Oh mom... She leaves in Nevada. So far away. She divorced with my dad years ago."
"Shhh... It will be okay," Augustus replied.
All the sudden, I heard barking and sirens. I looked around and heard voices.
"WHERE IS HE?!!!" a man screamed in the distance.
"Augustus," I said worriedly. "Who are they?"
"Shoot," he said. "We got to go."
"But..."
"NOW!!!"
He grabbed my bag and grabbed my hand and started running.
"Where are we going?" I whisper-screamed.
"You'll see."
