Isolation

She had friends,
and plenty of eager men.
Yet she couldn't ignore
how they accepted the social norms.

One day she stood up,
for she'd had enough.
She told them that she felt alone,
and barely felt understood in her own home.

Because how could she be at rest
when the television displayed another death?
She wouldn't be accepting of a preventable tragedy,
for those who turned a blind eye were surely filled with insanity.

She tried to shout and speak,
but her attempts made her feel futile and weak...
Because unfortunately nobody listened, and so,
her eyes always silently glistened.

She couldn't accept society's evil creations,
so she hid herself away in a bittersweet isolation.
