No one knows that I have adopted Nealia other than Gabriel, Levi, Travis and Alec. Not even Rachel knew. I couldn’t let anybody know about her, I will not allow her to be exposed to the likes of my father. When I started the process of adopting her I had to do a lot of thinking.

Levi knew because of Travis and Trent being his cousin.

There were a lot of things to consider. The fact that my father is still alive and after me, that has caused me to changed my appearance. I hadn’t done anything about it until I was 17 and had met Nealia. I knew from the moment in that emergency room that she was going to be important to me; I just didn’t know how important. I use to have the girl next-door look about me…not anymore.

Before I changed everything I had black straight hair, just to my shoulders and now I have hair that reaches my waist, I always have it curled and it’s a pastel pink colour. I have extremely pale blue eyes. I use to have a natural tan because I use to spend a lot of time outside, but now I’m pale.

I had to hide myself so no one could find me and I just grew attached to my new look.

“Libi, why are you here talking to my nephew?” Knox said pulling me out of my daydream.

“I told you I work every weekday and this is where I work.”

Gabriel was pulling on my hand. Looking down at him smiling, seeing his smile widen.

“I get to see my daddy tonight Libi.” He said with his smile getting bigger. I didn’t even think it could.

I had never met Gabriel’s father, from my knowledge he hasn’t been in since I started working here. It’s always been Gabriel’s Grandmother and it’s not my business to ask, so I hadn’t.

“Oh really sweetie? Are you excited?” I asked bending down to his level on his bed.

I smiled looking at Knox who was staring at me in an odd way. I tilt my head to the side; this is odd for him because he usually would say a mean comment.

Giving Gabriel my attention about I see his nodding his head a lot. “Yeah I only get to see him once a week, that’s why Uncle Knox brought me here today for my check up, grandma has gone to get Daddy for me.”

“That sounds very exciting Gabe, do you have anything for him? Maybe I should go get Nealie and she can help you make a Welcome home card for Daddy.”

Gabriel starting jumping up and down on his bed. “Can she? Is she well enough to come in my room? She has tubes under her nose.”

He started to look really worried. “ She’s okay to come in Gabriel, it’s her oxygen, she’ll be taking it off tonight, I’ll just bring it with us year? How about you, Uncle Knox and I go a get her together?”

“Yes! Yes! Yes!.” He hopped off his bed and grabbed Knox and my hands.

He started pulling us but apparently we weren’t going fast enough for him.

“Come on guys.” He whined, dragging out the word ‘guys.’

Laughing to myself I stop Gabriel in mid step and bend down to his height.

“How about you go to her room and get all her pens and pencils ready and let her know where we are taking her. BUT, no running in the hospital okay?”

He nodded and started to walk off faster.

Knox and I started walking towards her rom again at our own pace. I didn’t want to break the silence just in case Knox and gone back to his jock ways and was going to say something mean again.
