((Hey guys, look, I have no excuse. I'm bad, okay no, i'm terrible with update schedules. I do enjoy writing but life gets in the way; senior year is so weird and fucked up. I'm not ready to fully adult yet. *quietly internally screaming* >n< Anyway, enjoy you precious, precious scrubs. <3))

The late summer night air was sticky and sweet as the smell of rotting honeysuckles filled the air. Sollux had the backdoor to Eridan and his's hive, or in this case their condominium, open and the cool, late-night air drifted in; the hive was dark and a small light flickered on the front porch.

Trolls and humans had been living peacefully on Earth, or as one would say, the closest version they have to earth. They knew the timeline had been split to where they had been able to save everyone before chaos sprouted up. But, they never truly felt safe, knowing that Jack was still a threat but they knew they were an alternate reality so most felt protected.

Sollux had developed a guilty pleasure of gardening, it helped relieve his stress and allowed his mind to go blank, like a meditative state almost. Eridan had been sitting on the small front porch, looking out at the city's horizon with it's massive buildings towering above everything else; the sun had just set and the sky cast a beautiful tangerine with a soft lilac afterglow, a small cast of red being apparent in the clouds. The purple blood sighed deeply, letting the soft breeze move his scarf around, he seemed to be impatient. His foot tapped sharply against the concrete as he pulled out his phone to check the time. He rolled his eyes as he stood and went inside, looking for Sollux.

"Hey, Sol! Come on, wwe gotta go!" He trailed through the rooms, letting his thoughts  wander off.

'What happened if he just left..? It wouldn't be a surprise or the first time.' He shoved the negative thought out of his head. He had to start making positive progress in his mental health, he knew this pattern of thoughts was a bad thing but he couldn't help it. Sol had been a huge help but both males knew they couldn't completely change it overnight. It would take some work and serious dedication.  He turned the corner to go to the kitchen and almost fell as Sollux ran into him. He sighed heavily upon realizing who had just appeared in front of his face.

"Jegus Christ, Sol, you almost made my heart explode!"

"Calm yourself, ED, shouldn't you be used to iit by now?" He gave Eridan a small cat-like grin, chuckling to himself as he helped the violet-blood stand. "You okay? You look a biit shaken.."

Eridan nodded hesitantly, he didn't want to tell him the thoughts were coming back but he knew it'd be pointless as he grabbed Sollux's hand and started to lead him out of the apartment. "Yeah, just tryin to find you. You scared the crap outta me and, besides, wwe're gonna be late to Gam's party." He sighed softly, he never cared for Gamzee much but he knew he had to go simply because Gamzee begged for Sol to go. Sollux gently pulled his hand back to himself, shutting all the doors and windows as Eridan slowly trailed out of their hive.

Eridan looked down as they walked down the street, he didn't know if he should tell the slightly taller troll what had been going on. He wanted to trust him but he couldn't force himself to. It felt impossible.

"Hey.." Sol nudged Eridan's shoulder a little bit, enough to stir him from his own thoughts. Eridan pushed his glasses up slightly as his face turned towards the mustard-blood, he gave a small inquisitive 'hmm' and swallowed slightly. "You okay?"

Eridan couldn't hold back at this point, he knew sol could tell and he knew he couldn't keep anything from him for long. He shook his head as he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

"No, actually. I just don't see why you go to Gam's parties...They never end well...I mean, last time he spiked all the drinks and that was an entire mess. I never want to see Nepeta drunk again. That..was.." He shakes his head again, sighing to himself.

At this time both males came upon Makara's doorstep, they had walked several blocks in silence and Sol now pulled Eridan over into the alley beside Gamzee's hive; they needed to have a talk.

"II know you don't tru2t hiim but he'2 a decent guy. Just a biit..2pacey. We don't want two know what he'2 liike when he'2 not 2toned. You've heard of hii2 ancestor2. Just thiink, iit'd be bad iif he wa2n't the way he wa2. But, iif you tru2t me at all, ju2t know that everythiing ii2 goiing two be alriight," Sollux gently put his hand to Eridan's cheek, rubbed it gingerly and gave him a small reassuring smile; comfort wasn't really Sollux's strong point but he did the best he could. "II know everythiing ii2 going to be alriight. Don't worry 2o much. You have me there, fuck everyone el2e and what they have two 2ay about you."

Eridan didn't know why but it did help relieve some of his worrisome thoughts, he smiled back after sol started speaking and slowly nodded. "Alright..Thanks."

"Anytiime,  fiishbreath."

Makara flung the door open when Sollux had knocked, his sharp teeth protruded from the top of his lips whenever he grinned, which he usually did upon seeing Sollux.

"SoL bRo! I'm So MoThErFuCkIn EcStAtIc YoU dEcIdEd To Show!" He glanced over at eridan and just shrugged, saying nothing in particular. That's the way it always seemed to be, Eridan wasn't seen as much of a threat since transferring to the new universe and it was weird that their hierarchy didn't matter anymore; it was hard to just undo generations of oppression and stereotypes that eridan was taught about his fellow trolls, but, nonetheless he knew he had to make an effort.

As the two trolls walked through the door, the Aquarian could smell what the humans called "Reefer" or better known as, to the Striders anyway, "Bud/Weed." Eridan shrivled his nose and stuck it in between his his shirt and scarf, he didn't paarticularly care for the skunk-like smell and he already wanted to shrink away and go back home.

"Come on, ED," Sollux started in. "Iit'2 not goiing to be that bad, you'll get u2ed to iit."

Eridan knew, for a fact, that he would not and refused to get used to it. He couldn't help the single thought of 'This party is goin to be a disaster...No one cares for me and no one wants me here.'

He wasn't too far off from the truth.
