"Hey Cas."
I look down to see my beautiful girl looking up at me, her eyes fluttering open and closed.
She gives me a small half smile. "Hey Cam."
"How are you doing?"
"Well, it hurts but that's okay." She groggily states as she begins to nuzzle her head back into the pillow.
"I'm glad you're okay." I kiss her on the forehead and she begins to fall asleep again.
"How is she doing? Did she talk to you?" A nurse comes in and bombards me with questions.
"Uh yeah, we had a brief like 2 sentence conversation. She said it hurts but she's okay, then she fell back asleep. Is she going to be okay?"
"Yeah she will be fine, she has minor bruises on her legs and she passed out from lack of oxygen. She should be able to get out of here soon, don't worry. She's doing great." The nurse smiles at me as she walks out of the room.
I walk out of the hospital room and go see what food they have in the cafeteria.
"Hey- Cameron?"
Of course. "Hey Alicia."
"What are you doing here? Long time no see!" She leans in for a hug and I lightly return it.
"Uh, my girlfriend is actually here. Minor stuff. You?"
"I'm actually an intern here. It's just some stuff to put on my resume for college, you know?"
"Oh yeah I'm sure that will look good." I try to look for the nearest exit. "Hey, I really gotta go get back to my girlfriend and bring some food with me."
"Well wait, since when did you have a girlfriend Cammy? Last time I saw you, you were single and up my-"
"Yeah I know. That was a party and I was stupid. I barely remembered anything because of you and your fucked up friends. It meant nothing to me."
"Oh yeah, that's obvious. Especially since you couldn't stop calling me after that night." She winks at me and I gag.
"Because no one would tell me exactly what the fuck happened that night. It's your damn fault I'm the way I am. But now I'm happy and I have a beyond beautiful girlfriend. And I couldn't care less about you or your messed up life."
"Alright Cammy, when you two break up, I'll be a phone call away." She winks and flips her hair.
"Fuck off." I walk towards the muffin line, quickly purchase 2, and leave the cafeteria as soon as possible.
This just had to happen. Right when I thought I was really genuinely happy, this comes back up.
Karma is a bitch.
Cassie POV
"Mom, Dad... Hi."
"Hi sweetheart. How are you doing?" My mom sits next to me on my tiny bed.
"I'm fine.. just tired.." I can barely keep my eyes open.
"Alright well your father and I... we'll leave you be. Cameron's been here for a while now."
"I know, I spoke to him. Bye mom, bye dad." I drift back to sleep as I feel my mom kiss my cheek and tuck my blankets in more.
