"As it turns out, Cassie is fine. She was dehydrated the day of the accident, as well as her being out of breath, thus leading up to her fainting. She will be okay, her legs are going to feel a little bruised but we have prescribed pain medication that will take care of that. Don't worry, she is perfectly fine."
"Thank you so much, Doctor."
"You're very welcome. Cassie is free to go whenever she wakes up." The doctor smiled and left the room.
My mom walks over to me and sees my eyes have been open, and I just heard what the doctor said.
"Hi sweetheart, are you ready to go?" She runs her hand through my hair.
"Yeah, I'm feeling better than before. I'm ready to sleep in my own bed again." I laugh and slowly sit up and get out of bed, change into my clothes and walk out of my room when I see Cameron walking down the hall.
"Hey! Cassie! You're walking!" He runs up to me and wraps me in his arms, kissing my forehead.
"Yeah, I am." I laugh and we continue walking.
"So are you in any pain? Or does it feel like nothing?" He asks and slowly touches my hand, eventually holding it.
"Well if it weren't for all the pain meds I'm on, I sure would not be walking right now. But other than that, it feels like normal!"
"I'm so happy you're okay Cassie." He looks at me at kisses my cheek as I get into my moms car.
"Bye, Cas. I'll see you later, okay?"
"Bye Cameron," I wave goodbye to him and he walks to his car. I have to admit, I never expected things to end up like this. I didn't think I would ever be in the hospital, let alone with a boy. Life is pretty great.
...
"Mom I'm heading upstairs to watch some TV." I call and go up the stairs and enter my room.
"Okay sweetie!" I hear my mother call back.
I plop onto my bed and turn on Drake and Josh, my all time favorite show.
I hear a buzz come from my phone and I pick it up.
"You okay?" A text from Cam reads.
"Yes, I'm fine. No worries. I'll be back at school tomorrow. Are we doing anything special to celebrate my wellness?" I text back and focus back on the show. I decide I should probably do some homework since I missed school yesterday. I hear my phone buzz again and I pick it up.
"Well, we could go to dinner and you could come over again? ;)"
"Yeah, that sounds good :)" I answer and start my math homework.
...
BEEP BEEP BEEP! I wake up to the sound of my alarm, the TV still on and my homework surrounding me. I fell asleep while doing my homework which probably means I didn't get all of it done... shit.
I get out of bed and go to my closet and end up choosing a sweatshirt and some leggings. I brush my teeth, out my contacts in, put some makeup on band run down stairs to get a bottle of water and head out the door.
I slip on some white high top converse, swallow my pain medication, grab my keys, and bolt out the door. I text my mom and say goodbye, then turn on my music. As I'm driving to school, I start thinking about the fact that it's my senior year, and this time next year I'll be in college, probably away from Cameron.
In less than a year, I will start being a real adult... this scares me more than anything else. I just want to be a teenager forever, no matter how much drama comes along with it. As much as I hate school, I'm sure I'll hate the real world a lot more.
I arrive at school with a few minutes to spare, so I decide to fix up my makeup and check my phone.
I have no new notifications, so I get out of my car and walk into school.
Every face is fixated on me. I am the center of peoples stares. I know there are probably a lot of rumors about me going around, ranging from I tried to drown myself all the way to I have a strange illness. High school is made of only lies and rumors, there's no way around it.
I get into my first period and I don't see Cameron, which is weird. I sit in my seat and wait for the bell to ring and class to start.
My teacher drones on about electromagnetism and shit, while I zone out and think of where Cameron must be.
I hear the door open and I see Cameron slip in.
"Well, Mr. Dallas, thank you for joining us." Cameron smiles and walks quickly to his seat, slumping down and not turning towards me.
"Cam," I whisper, trying to get his attention.
"Cam," I say louder.
"CAM," I whisper-yell and he turns to me.
"Where were you?" I whisper-ask.
"Don't worry about it, I got stuck in traffic." He whispers back and turns toward the front again.
I can tell he's lying but I'm not going to push him. If he wants to lie that's fine, it's not my choice.
..
After a torturous period, the bell finally rings and Cameron waits for me to get all my stuff. We walk out together, holding hands and go down the hallway.
"So, Cas, you know, people are talking. About you. And me. There are a lot of rumors..." He stops and leans against the wall. Both his hands go into mine and he looks right at me. "People think you know, you're like, insane. Which I know you aren't, but I thought you should know."
"Well yeah of course people are going to talk, I mean some random girl gets put in the hospital and also happens to be dating you? People are bound to talk. It's okay, I guess," I smile at him and he looks right at me.
"I want you to know that nothing anyone says is going to make me not want to be with you." I smiles at me we kiss. Man do I love this boy.
