One of the first times I moved temporarily out with a boyfriend, he lived in a house half an hour journey from my parents at the time. I stayed there most of the time, he never knew of my nightmares or anything to do with them and to my surprised I hadn't had one until one evening, when him and his best friend left me and his girlfriend at the time and my closest friend alone in the house, they didn't go far so I felt okay.
Until she started telling me some the dreams she had been having since she was little, they were pretty much identical to mine except they were her own demons that I would never wish on my worst enemy.
She would say she'd wake up stuck in bed and a figure would be in the corner of the ceiling facing her bed, watching her. It only came when her boyfriend stayed over, I asked how she knew and she told me that every time he'd stay something on his side of the bed would fall on or spill on his side, now I was a bit skeptic at first but I've always believed in the paranormal. I friggin' dream of them all the time so I had too, it was just refreshing and unnerving hearing it come from someone else for the first time. She had enough when one evening a picture of her and him was dropped on his side of the bed but only his profile was smashed, she truly believed this 'thing' wanted him out of her life, for what? I still don't know, I didn't ask because the same night she told me of it something I've only just decided to write about happened.
Now I believe in coincidences and cliche stuff etc, but this actually happened and I refuse to believe it was a coincidence it happened. If you believe differently then that's up to you.
We both fell asleep on the couch, it was a massive L shaped one which just about fit in the living room at the time, the house was a long and tall house so when you walked in through the hall you came straight in to the living room and to your left were two see-through, patio doors which opened up into another room he had as a lounge where we played on the Xbox. The previous tenants had that room as a bar because above them doors was a glass slate saying 'bar' so it was obvious and tacky, everyone had tried to get the thing off the wall but it wouldn't budge so we gave up.
That night I shut all the doors to that living room, it's been an accruing thing I've done since young and of course it makes me feel safe as nothing can come in, or out. I don't remember falling asleep after she had told me about this thing, I'm surprised I slept from being that scared but when we were was asleep, I slowly started to come too but still in a deep sleep, let's say I was in REM. I started to feel like something was watching me. It happens to me a lot so I just lie there listening and waiting. I was lay with my head joining hers so both our feet were facing outwards, she was laying in the long part of the couch and I was in the short part, as I started to become more aware of something being there I slowly brought myself out of sleep but keeping my eyes shut, why would I open my eyes to something being there? I didn't want to scare myself even more so I kept them shut and moved my arm slowly so it was touching hers, my hand eventually found hers above my head. She was sat up. Not lay down.
Now I was panicking to say the least, I slowed my breathing down and started to turn my body so it my face was facing away from the room, that's when I heard the floor boards creek. It was directly behind my head. I stopped moving and my hair started to move which it shouldn't have been as I'm on a couch right? No, something was playing with it. It stopped and I opened my eyes.
Something felt off.
My friend started to shake, then her body started the slouch down the couch. As soon as her head got to eye level I shot up and felt like I had to cover her, so I did. The second I grabbed her head the slated bar above the door fell to the ground, the living room door slammed and an upstairs door slammed startling her awake.
We both stayed there cuddling each other waiting to see if anything else happened, but nothing did. I told her what I dreamt of and she told me that she had a dream something was pulling her feet. My face paled as I told her that her body started to slouch down the couch which is when I woke up, she didn't believe that she was sat up but I swore she was. She covered her eyes repeating "this isn't happening again" over and over till I made her explain what she meant, she told me that it's not just her boyfriend it's happened too, it's happened to everyone that's slept next to her so far.
That's when I realised that she wasn't slouching, something was pulling her down. There was something behind me and there's no way that slate fell down on its own and slamming doors. We never spoke about it again because no one believed us and I sure as hell didn't have her stay over again.
