*Suga's POV*

When Yoon Gi awoke from his blissful dream of his possible life with his soulmate, he felt sore all over because of the uncomfortable hospital chairs. Dread filled his very being again after he realized that he was still waiting for the outcome of his soulmate's operation. Correcting his sitting posture and trying to relax again, he sighed as he continued to wait in the vacant room that smelled like antiseptic and was eerily silent and chilly.

After a few hours of waiting that seemed to stretch out like eternity in his frantic mind, the door of the operation theatre slid open to reveal the figure of a doctor. Without wasting any time, Yoon Gi surged towards the doctor, Yoon Gi's anxiety over the girl's survival evident in his unkempt hair and the expression on his face.

"Doctor, how is she? Is she okay?" Yoon Gi asked, breathless.

"Are you the patient's family?" the doctor inquired, and Yoon Gi gulped.

"I'm her... soulmate." Yoon Gi revealed, and at that sentence, he thought he saw a hint of sympathy flashing in the doctor's eyes.

"She is lucky that the iron rod piercing her abdomen was taken out just in time before the wound could be infected, and the rod didn't hit any fatal spots. She had just escaped her critical condition, but she is stuck in a comatose state for a while. I reckon that she will be awake after a few days at best. For now, the best you can do is wait for her to wake up. You can leave your contact details at the reception counter and we'll call you if she's awake." the doctor explained. Yoon Gi couldn't fight his lips forming a smile at the news that the girl was alive and well, and the sense of relief washed over him like a soothing, calming wave in his heart. He thanked the doctor profusely and agreed to the doctor's suggestion before making his way home to finally get a worry-free sleep.

Yoon Gi was given a week's break after the accident from his supervisor after he told the story about one of the victims being his soulmate and all, but Yoon Gi felt restless just lazing about in his house since he couldn't help but let his mind drift off towards his soulmate and wondering about her well-being every second of the day. At last, Yoon Gi decided to cut his break short since he figured that his work could keep his mind off from being depressed and worried over his soulmate.

After he was back, Yoon Gi didn't miss the whispers and pitying stares that followed him everywhere he went since he figured that the whole department already knew about his story. Even his supervisor told him to only do paperwork and for once, Yoon Gi felt relieved to be stuck in stacks of paperwork. He felt like he wasn't ready to take care of accidents without having the image of his injured soulmate replaying in his mind. As usual, Jungkook offered to keep him company and lessen his load, to which Yoon Gi was immensely grateful for.

Around noon, Yoon Gi went to the pantry to fetch a few cans of coffee for him and Jungkook when he heard the familiar ringtone of his phone from his desk.

"Hyung, your phone's ringing!" Jungkook called out to him.

"Who is it?" Yoon Gi shouted, as it was quite far to walk from the pantry to his desk.

"It's from an unknown number. Do you want me to answer it?" Jungkook asked. Yoon Gi clicked his tongue in annoyance. Must be those insurance companies' promotional offers. He kept having those calls often these days.

"Just answer it. If it's from an insurance company, just tell them that I'm not interested." Yoon Gi said as he walked out of the pantry. He could see Jungkook pressing the 'answer call' button and talking to the other line.

"Hello? This is Min Yoon Gi's pho-Hospital? What do you mean?" at the sound of the word 'hospital', Yoon Gi felt his feet pounding on the cold hard tiles as he snatched the phone from Jungkook's grip. He paid no heed to Jungkook's surprised yelp and the cans falling on the tiles with a loud clang and rolling to who knows where. His utmost attention was directed to the person at the other line of the call.
