Chapter 4: The stained bat

Hello! I'm Aki! I am currently with my best friend, Ayaka. "Oh my gosh, did you see that boy from the other day? He was so charming!!! I wanna get in touch with him" Ayaka giggled. I just smiled because I don't feel like talking much today. "Nee Aki, don' t you find him charming too?" she asks. "Hmm. . . he's cute, that's all" I stared outside the window. "Hee~ You like him, right?" she pokes my cheeks and laughs. I laughed back and said, "no." "Really Aki!? You are probably the only person I know who has no crushes!" Ayaka exclaimed. Oh come on, give me a break. None of them are type actually.

Well, it's time to get going. It's 5 in the afternoon already and probably, me and Ayaka are the only ones left here in school. Ayaka's phone rang loudly and she quickly answered it. "Hello? . . . oh hai mom! . . . what? NOW? But. . ." she sighed and continued, "okay, mom. . . I will! I will! Fine. . . alright. Bye." she ended the call and apologized to me that she can't go with me later to the mall. "It's alright! We'll just go out sometime" I smiled. "Really!? Thanks a bunch, Aki!" Ayaka grabbed her bag and opened the classroom door. "I'm going home. See you, Aki!" she closed the door and left.

It is unusually quiet. . .

Not a single sound was made for 10 seconds. No crickets, no water dripping from faucets, no rustling of leaves.

I looked out on the window and saw Ayaka running outside the school gate. Guess I should leave as well. I stretched my arms and held my bag. As I open the door, I felt a strange presence. I shook it off and opened the door.

The hallways were pretty dark now. I quietly wore my black shoes and quickly left the campus. As I walked through the streets, a sudden cold wind gushed away.

I felt the same strange presence again. "Mi-Misao? Could it be you?" I asked with a shaky tone. The wind just still gave me a cold breeze. "If-If it's really you, Misao, don't scare me like this !" Even though I keep begging not to scare me, the wind didn't stop. Although, the presence dosen't feel like Misao's. I bet it was someone else's.

I braced myself because probably something or someone might attack me from behind.

I saw a bat. A bat stained with blood. It was lying on the floor.

That bat. . . I thought to myself. I went closer to it and held the bat. The blood were actually letters. I tried to read it, "I. . . fou. . . found. . .y. . . you?"

"That's right." a voice spoke. It wasn't Misao's. And the next thing I knew, I got stabbed in the stomach. Blood starts to go out from my stomach and my mouth for some reason. I asked, "wh-why. . .?" then I began to lose conscious.
