"What do you think you're doing so close to my face, mister?" I felt Kyouko's breath fan against my lips.
Our noses were only an inch away from each other, and my hand was firmly cradling the back of her neck.
"We're being watched," I smiled. "So we might as well put on a good show."
"Who's watching us exactly?"
I playfully rolled my eyes at her. "You know them quite well."
After dwelling on my words for a quick moment, she giggled. "Do you think this 'kiss' would be more believable if I tilted my head to the left just a little bit?"
"Yeah, that would be perfect. And close your eyes, too," I instructed quietly, and she diligently complied.
Those teammates of her's must be at their limit by now, I thought cheerfully in my head. Any guy would after seeing this.
In no way were our lips touching.
It might've looked like they were if you were watching from just the right angle, but they definitely weren't. It was the ultimate façade that put our less-than-fortunate audience under the impression that we were kissing.
It was undoubtedly evil of us to do such a thing to them, but we couldn't find it in ourselves to feel remorseful. It was stupidly fun to tease them- strangers or companions alike.
I'd be lying if I said that was my first time doing something so capricious, but only on rare occasions did I deceive others for the benefit of someone other than myself.
The girl sitting next to me was a very special exception.
In the short amount of time I'd gotten to know Kyouko Johnson, I had established that she was one of my dearest friends. She was nothing short of a good person, but she could also be quite the devious little bugger when the situation called for it, and I adored that about her.
Although it'd taken some effort on my half to accomplish it, she finally spilled her figurative beans to me in the time we'd spent together in my poor excuse of a break room.
She told me all about her friends at Hônan.
There were lots of good things she had to say about them, but as she dove more into her present dilemma with the End of Summer tournament being so soon, her words only continued to grow more negative.
I couldn't really recall his name at the time, but she seemed to focus more of her negativity towards one of her seniors. I remembered how upset she seemed when she told me about his treatment towards her...
"That bonehead has been totally disregarding my feelings as of late," a huge pout was on her face, and her cheeks were puffed out in frustration. "I understand that he might feel sort of pressured, because he's the team captain and all, but he doesn't have to be a dick to me because of it."
She had the fattest crush on him. And I was ninety-nine point nine percent sure that he felt the same way about her.
