“I heard that Marisol has something going on with Scarlett’s older brother.” Tiffany Maxwell gossiped rapidly to her best friend, Catherine Madden, “What! No way, he’s like three years older then them!” Catherine reached for the massive bowl of popcorn lying on the couch. “So! I heard her talking once about how he was so hot.” Catherine shook her head, “And how he’s also so taken! God, don’t you remember that tan blonde girl that he brought to the spring fling? It was all over The Razor!” “More like the Hazer. That stupid website violates like 11 bullying laws.” Dexter Madden, or Madden as he had been dubbed the famous video game since the second grade, dropped into his living room and stole a handful of popcorn from his little sister. “Oh please, what would you know about popular kids.” Catherine scrunched her nose at her brother and Tiffany looked at him, “You could be really popular if you tried.” “Unfortunately, it’s not my goal in life to be prom king or who had the most friends, I just want to get through that ego factory cesspool with a diploma and a college to go to.” “You’re on all the cool sports teams, like football, hockey, and lacrosse, but you still manage to be a loser. Seriously, your always around Zeke Gable, but you’re still not invited to things.” “I am actually, little sister, but I’ve got better stuff to do.” “Yes, because playing video games with Cooper in your room is so important.” “Why do you guys even care about high school stuff? You’re in the eighth grade.” “It’s June you idiot, and we will be in high school soon enough.” Catherine grinned at Tiffany, and Madden rolled his eyes, “Come on, you guys honestly don’t have anything better to do?” Tiffany brushed him off, “Whatever, so, you’ve gone to school with the se girls for years, you’ve got to have talked to them, right? What are they like, I think I like Cassie the best.” Madden rolled his eyes, “You’re talking about them like they’re dolls or Pokemon, trying to collect them all are we?” “We just want to know, do you know any of them, what are they really like?” “Marisol has always just kind of wanted attention, Dana’s kind of insane, Britt’s cool, I guess, I just don’t really know her, Cassie’s really hyper, and Scarlett is.....smart.” “Really? We already knew that. God! It’s like you don’t even go to Wildgate Prep.” “Well, I do, and those girls aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.” Catherine raised an eyebrow, “Are you kidding? They’re practically celebrities in this town. I mean, I would kill to be like them. Invited to all the parties, get all the guys, just...... perfect.” “Perfect huh? So you’re totally ignoring the fact that popularity is like a freaking fly trap. I mean, it makes people twisted. Well, Marisol already was, but the others, I don’t know if they’re that bad.” “Why do you think all popular kids are bitches.” “Because they are, and then begin to think that they deserve to be treated like they’re special when they’re not.” Tiffany and Catherine glare at him for trying to ruin they’re dreams, but Madden didn’t really care. He would rather have his younger sister learn about things now then later, the truth was always better. Unfortunately, that thought was not the same for the rest of the people in the town.
