I know I am supposed to be telling you about Katie's group and all, but we never made it that far.
Me and Katie didn't talk that much on our way. Me, was still trying to get over the fact of killing someone, and Katie probably felt uncomfortable with me crying and all. But all was going well until about half way there when we noticed a group of guys pushing around a couple girls. "We've got to help them right?", I said. "No, we've got nothing to do with that.". We argued saying how there people not dolls and stuff like that that, but through all the arguing we didn't know how loud we were being. Before we could notice, the group made there way toward us, leaving the two girls alone.
Us, still arguing somehow not noticing the group of guys coming our way until one of the guys shoved me down and grabbed Katie's arm. "This you're little girlfriend?",said one of the guys. He had a strange tattoo on his face that I couldn't make out. "No she's just my friend! Now leave us alone!". "You want us to leave you alone? Tough kid now give me all you're supplies or the little women gets it!". I swear I've heard that somewhere. "Yeah, right, give a dick like you anything? You're funny." Bad choice of words. I got up as fast as I could, but soon after I got punched in the gut which put me back on the ground. "You're not goin' nowhere
Until you give me your god damn supplies!". Then a foot hit the same spot as the fist. I took another chance of getting up, that didn't work. This time instead of hitting me, he grabbed my arm and twisted it to the breaking point. Then my hole body felt numb when I heard a snap. I shrieked in pain. Out of nowhere the guy fell beneath me and there was Katie. "Let's go!" She shouted. Still surprised about my arm and what Katie had just done, I hesitated. But soon started running when the guys got up. We headed toward the closest store and tried to find a nice hiding spot. Now, when I had a chance to calm down for a minute, the pain started to settle in. My arm felt like someone was stabbing it with a jagged, rusted knife.
Then I heard the doors open. It sounded just like the first time I came across one of the infected. Worry and pain were the only things in my body at the moment. As the guys got closer Katie suggested we try to move. Not realizing it, she pulled on my now broken arm. I let out a scream and before we knew it we were running again. This time heading toward the woods where we hoped we could lose them.
We ran, the guys right on our ass. Katie running faster than me started throwing anything she could behind her to try to buy us some time. I guess It worked because when she through a fairly large rock straight over her head, I heard a thump and a loud cry of pain. Before we knew it all the guys had stopped chasing us and had stopped to examine what happened.
We went a little further until we saw the highway , we then slowed down. Katie got in a tree to look behind us, just to check they weren't trailing. We made our way to the edge of the high way. But what happened next was probably one of the most terrifying things you could ever see. Our jaws dropped to find a huge group of the infected just walking away from the town we were just in.
And when I mean a huge group, I mean at least 100 of them . Katie and I ducked behind the railing and started moving for the woods again. But being clumsy, I trip and land on my broken arm. Before I could scream, Katie put her hands over my mouth, saving us both.
After about an hour of walking through the woods trying to get to the next town, it started getting dark. Katie and I found a tree and decided to asleep there for tonight. It was hard to get up there with my badly broken arm though, so I got some assistance from Katie.
When we finally got up in the tree, Katie spoke for really the first time. "How bad is it?", she said. "I don't know but it hurts like hell". "Lucky for you I've got a couple of skills. Hand me your bag." I did what I was told and gave her the bag. She took out one of the knifes and ripped some fabric off of the sleeping bag. She then pulled some string out of a small bag I didn't notice earlier. She motioned me forward and tied some of the string to the fabric, and some to the other side of the string creating a sling. She put it around my head and leaned back to the tree once again.
"Thanks", I said blushing a bit. "No problem. I have to do that stuff all the time for my group". " Speaking of the group how far away is it from here?" I asked. "About another mile and we should be there". Before I knew it, she was sleeping.
So what came out of a simple few mile walk to her group? Getting captured, a broken arm, finding a giant group of the infected, and stuck sleeping in another tree.
I wouldn't call this day exactly "successful.
Well if I want to wake up tomorrow at a decent time, I'd better get to sleep.
