“Jackson!” My father yelled running to the window with a blood covered Brandon by his side. I must have hit him harder than I thought. He squeezed past my father following me through the window.
“Your going to get it hybrid!” Brandon snarled and flew towards me faster than ever before. I tried speeding up to get away but couldn’t, he smashed into me full force knocking us both from the sky. I bounced off the snow covered ground knocking the wind out of myself. I wheezed and forced myself to sit up.
“Ju..Just back off!” I yelled and made it onto my feet.
“You don’t understand, how long I have worked for this! I want humans dead just as much as your father!” He walked over to me clearly unfazed by the 10 foot fall.
“What did they do to you?” I sneered regaining my breath.
“You think I asked to be a demon?” His words stopped me dead in my tracks. Hadn’t he chosen to use death magic?
“I was forced into this life by my adoptive parents!” He walked over and grabbed my collar, the slight control he still had over me left me paralyzed. How was he recovering already.
“Do you know what it’s like to be forced to do something for someone you love? I never did, but my father sure did. As soon as I turned 16 I learned of my magic back round and powers. I was a water dragon, clean, nice, loved… then my mother got sick and my father did everything for her. One day he saw my wings and flipped blaming my witch craft for her sickness, he beat me day in and day out telling me if she died I was next. So I learned life magic, training every single day to avoid the beatings but it wasn’t enough. I couldn’t save her…” He let go of my collar leaving me a speechless stick staring at the injured demon.
“I woke up to my father and a knife glistening in the dark. He stabbed me first in the arm then in the leg telling me I would suffer like my mother, then tied me in the basement torturing me. I couldn’t take it anymore, I used the life magic to shorten his life span turning my self into a demon in the process but at least I was free right?” He laughed weakly. I moved towards him.
“That’s…” He cut me off with a laugh.
“Don't pity me now I'm powerful! I trained everyday after that using humans as my punching bags, humans are an insignificant race only to do our bidding!"
"Then, I met your father the oldest living mage and learned secrets of dragon magic and sirens, what makes us run. What makes them tick. I can move through the tiniest of weaknesses in a siren and blow them to bits!”I back away horrified by the giant smile he wore as he spoke. He really went through all that just to spent all of his life training. Is he doing this now because he believed humans are insignificant, or because he's still hurting from what his father did? And is my father really the oldest magic user alive?
“Your father has taught me so much in these past months, you should really pay attention to him when he talks,”
“Then why do you need me if you know so much?”
“I can only kill water based creatures because that’s what I was born, but you hybrid can kill anything. Since your magic is canceled out by one another it’s created a universal elemental magic,”
“A universal elemental magic?” I looked at my hands the blue and red lights pulsing.
“You’re so special boy, and such a pain in my ass!” Brandon growled as he charged at me gliding across the snow. I spun and jumped barley dodging his wings as he flew past. I flapped calling out for Blake.
“Jackson! We’re about a mile or two away hold on!”
“Where?” I shouted hovering above the run down house.
