A few months had past before I saw that demon again, my mother had been talking to me giving me clues as to where she was since she wasn’t entirely sure, they kept moving her. Every time I thought we were close I would feel her pain and hear her screams then she would be moving again. Each day she talked about waking up to new smells and atmospheres, a dirty damp warehouse, a brightly lit office. Where could they be?
“Hey Jackson,”
“Hey Mom any new clues?” She sniffled in my brain, I clenched my fist. According to my mother my father had also visited and beat her blaming my disobedience on her.
“Look to your left,” she cried. My middle finger went numb for a second.
“Are they breaking your fingers? What’s left?” I spun around running through the snow. Jem and Blake were back home searching abandoned buildings. We had been doing that ever since Blake brought me back home after almost killing Jem.
I loosened my hoody, with the giant leather wings I overheated quickly. My over grown brown fluff blew into my eyes. I brushed it away skidding to a stop in the snow.
“Long time no see,” the orange haired demon looked sick and depressed. His hair had faded to a yellow blonde and his face was scattered with black and blue bruises.
“What happened to you?” I asked shocked, sure he was an ass but… wow.
“Let’s just say I’m going to bring you to your father no matter what.” His playful nature had left and all that was left was fear.
“Does he beat you like he beats my mom?” I removed my jacket slowly squeezing my wings through the slits in the back of my green and black flannel.
“He’s going to make you a prince!” The demon boy yelled ignoring my question, his voice a scream laced with a pleading cry.
“Please just tell me where my mom is!” I ordered calmly a gust of wind blowing snow and hair in my face.
“I can’t..” he shook his head looking down at the glistening snow.“But you can!” My wings were fully extended the gradient of red, blue and black sprinkled with sparkly white flakes.
“You don’t understand,” his voice faded from a cry to a laugh. His head jerked upward the bruises gone.
“Like my little trick? I was sent to distract you stupid,” he smirked and turned unfurling his jet black wings.
“Blake, Jem shit!” I thought to them at home unprotected. I charged in the direction of home beating my wings as hard as possible. The motion began to burn as I strained to go faster but I didn’t care I couldn’t lose them. I landed to fast sliding and rolling in the snow, I jumped to my feet slamming the door open and running inside.
“Jem! Blake!” I called with a voice crack. I ran to the kitchen panting.
“Jackson what’s wrong?” Blake and Jem charged in behind me Blake wrapping his arms around me as I wheezed.
“I talked to the demon… he told me he was only a distraction but…” I stopped, if they weren’t attacking Blake and Jem then…
“They moved your mom!” Jem asked, she had grown a lot in these months her hair had been cut short but the rest of her was bigger. Her green eyes widened as she ran out the door. Me and Blake followed, he squeezed my hand as I caught up with Jem scooping them both up. I returned to beating my wings as hard as possible.
“Mom! Mom!” I called in my brain reaching for a sign of her. I felt Blake’s eyes on me, he had grown too. We were almost the same height and his hair was even more messy.
