SIGNE'S POV
I jumped up to the sound of my alarm. I shut it off, hopping out of my bed. I checked the time. 5:30. School doesn't start till 7:00, but I have to get out of my house early in order to avoid him. I sped around pulling some clothes on. I grabbed a regular white t-shirt, some skinny jeans and a dark gray hoodie. I grabbed my bag for school and tiptoed downstairs. I made a quick bagel and cream cheese (I don't know) and walks out the door. I checked my watch. 6:00. I sighed, realizing I got out on time. I'm about 15 minutes from time the school, but I was in no hurry today. Each step forward just heightened my anxiety. I fiddled with hair, twirling it around my fingers. What if I get teased again? What if I'm bullied? What if I get beaten up? My brain was going through all possible bad scenarios, not helping my nervousness. If I don't clear my mind, I am going to have a panic attack, I thought. I paused for a moment, taking big deep breaths. It calmed me, but only a little bit. I looked up to see the school. No one was there yet, not that anyone would be. Who comes to school almost an hour early? I walked up the steps and pulled on the doors. Locked. I groaned, leaning against the wall. I walked over to one the Brock walls on the side of the front steps and sat on it. I pulled out a book and started to read. The book pulled me out of my anxiety filled world, away from everything. The words pulled me in and kept me safe. I soon lost track of time. I don't really notice what was going on around me until someone pulled my shoulder. I looked up quickly with worry, to meeet a teacher's eyes. "Why are you out here honey," she asked in soothing voice. "I-I didn't w-want t-to be l-late on the f-first day," I replied. I hate my stuttering. It only adds more to my flaws and how fucked up I am. "Sweetie, you should probably come inside. It's starting to ran." I glanced at the sky and sure enough, the clouds were covering the rising sun. I nodded quietly and followed the teacher. "What is your name?" I tools deep breath. "S-Signe Hansen," I answered. She introduced herself as Miss Tidwell. "I have a feeling you are new, I have never seen you around before," Miss Tidwell said smiling. I blushed furiously, looking at the floor. "Would you like me to give you a tour?" I nodded and smiled.
