Beyond Repair (short story)

Chapter 6

I was woken up by my texting ringtone blasting the song 'Tears Don't Fall' by Bullet For My Valentine. Sighing, I reached my arm out of the covers and grabbed my phone, flipping it open. It was Toby. 'Can you come over please?' Smiling, I replied saying that I would be over after I got ready.

Setting my phone down, I got out of my bed and headed into the bathroom. Slipping off my clothes, I stepped into the shower. I had to be careful when shaving my legs, or else the razor would open the cuts on my thigh. Those ones I hadn’t shown Toby yet. I was too afraid to. After about fifteen minutes, I turned the shower off, got out, and then wrapped a towel around my body and hair. I then walked into my room and started looking through my closet. Grabbing an Escape The Fate shirt, blue skinny jeans, a studded belt, and a black sweater, I set them on the bed, then sat down. I grabbed the lotion next to my bed and applied it to my legs to make the smoother and less dry. I then got back up and walked back into the bathroom, took the towel off of my head, then plugged my hair dryer in. After brushing my hair out, I dried my hair, and then headed back into my room.

Dropping the towel that was around my body on the floor, I walked over to my bed and picked up the clothes. After getting dressed, I walked into the bathroom to do my makeup, and when that was done, I brushed my hair again, brushed my teeth, and then walked back into my room.

Grabbing my phone, I walked downstairs and told Sean and Riley where I was going. They looked at me weirdly, because of last night I guess, but oh well. Turning and leaving the house, I began walking towards Toby’s. The sidewalk was all chalked up from the neighbor’s kids. A small family resided on one square, and a house on another. Colorful trees and animals lit up the driveway and I passed by, smiling at the small little creations. I then kept my eyes to the ground, only looking up when a car passed me. I started getting nervous when I kept seeing the same car over and over again. The same car I saw the night before. After it passed about four more times, I called Toby up. “Hello?” He answered.

“Toby, I’m scared, can you meet me half way?” I asked.

“Of course, I’ll see you in a few.” He replied.

“Thanks. Bye.” I said, and then hung up.

While waiting, I kept my eyes locked on the ground, not looking up at all, even when I heard a car. I was too nervous and scared and didn’t want to think about anything or anyone except Toby. About five minutes later, I started hearing footsteps, so I looked up and saw Toby jogging towards me. “You okay?” He asked.

“Yeah, now I am.” I told him with a small smile.

Toby then grabbed me hand and laced fingers with mine. M smile grew. “Why were you scared?” He asked.

“Nothing, it doesn’t matter.” I told him.

“Yes it does. Tell me.” He pushed.

“You’re gonna think that I’m stupid.”

“No I’m not. I promise.” He said.

Sighing, I ran my fingers through my hair and stared at the ground. “This car kept passing by. Probably about ten times. It looked so familiar. It was parked in front of my house last night. It was just scaring me.” I explained.

Toby nodded. “Just call me whenever that car comes near you again. I’ll rush to wherever you are.”

Another smile spread across my lips. “Thanks.” I said.

Arriving at Toby’s house, we walked up to his room and a smile immediately appeared on my face. Toby had put a bag of weed and his bowl out on his bed. “I got some today, thought I would share.” He said.

Walking over to his bed, Toby packed a bowl then took the first hit. We took turns taking hits until three bowls were finished. Lying down on his bed, I stared up at the ceiling. “Dude, I’m so fucking high.” I said, laughing.

“Me too!” Toby shouted, and then jumped on the bed. I grabbed one of his legs and pulled him down next to me. “Let’s have sex.” I whispered.

Toby looked at me, shocked. “Just kidding!” I shouted, then both of us bursh into laughter.

“I have another present for you.” Toby whispered, then got up from the bed and opened his closet door. My eyes widened and my smile grew when I saw him pull out a bottle of vodka. He then pulled out two shot glasses from his closet and set them down on his desk.

He set the bottle down next to the shot glasses, and then told me he would be right back. I took a seat on his bed and waited patiently. A few minutes later, he Toby came up with a gallon of Orange Juice, and I smiled. Slowly and carefully, we filled the shot glasses up with vodka, and then filled cups with the two drinks. The shots were first. Clinging our glasses together, we took the shots, and then started drinking the screwdrivers.

The drinks went faster than the weed. One after another, we couldn’t stop. I guess for me, I just wanted to be happy and to feel nothing bad. I wanted to enjoy the day with Toby.

Once the handle of Vodka was ½ of the way gone, we laid down on the floor, wasted, but loving it. I looked over to Toby and smiled. “Guess what?!” I asked.

“What?”

“Chicken butt!” I screamed, and then both of us burst out laughing, holding our stomachs and trying not to puke.

Looking out the window, I realized that I was starting to get dark. “Let’s go explore before it gets too dark outside.” I said.

“Explore?”

“Yes, explore.” I said, then grabbed Toby’s hand and pulled him up off the ground.

We made our way out of the house, stumbling like idiots. Once outside, we both lit a cigarette and started walking. Turning random streets, we kept walking, even when it got dark. “I have to pee!” Toby whispered.

“Then go pee, silly.” I whispered back.

“Stay here.” With that, Toby walked a little ways down to find a place to pee.

Tired, I sat down on the side walk, smoking another cigarette. I then started hearing footsteps behind me, so I turned around. “That was fast, To-” When I realized who it was, I jumped up and started screaming.
