Kate's point of view

Lacey’s coffee… Finally, I found it, my dad’s coffee shop. I opened the door and really nice and warm sound followed me and then I heard a familiar voice. It was Phil, my dad.

“Hi honey, I didn’t expect to see you here. How did you get here?” He looked really surprised.

“Hi dad. Liz told me about this place and I wanted to get to know the area so I asked for the address.” This is strange. Why do I feel comfortable calling him dad, but when it comes to Elizabeth I feel weird just by using her nickname? I'm one crazy girl. Uhhh…

“Oh, I'm very glad you decided to come here. Since you’re here, can you give me a hand? This place is really crowded today. I could use some help.”

“I would love to help.” It's not like I have something better to do. Since, I can’t remember what I studied on Harvard nor my real profession I could steal some time and work here. It should be fun. “But don’t forget that I can’t remember anything and that you have to help and explain it to me.”

“Oh honey, you'll be fine. This place isn’t big. You’re a smart girl, you'll learn how to do it in no time. For now, look around and check if there is someone who came in here recently and take the order.” He gave me a smile and continued working.

I saw a girl who just came in and I approached her to take her order.

“Hello. What can I get for you?”

“Hi. I would like a coffee with extra sugar and… some cookies with it.” She was distracted by her phone and she didn’t even look at me while I was taking her order. How rude…

“One coffee with extra sugar coming right up.” I gave her a smile even though she didn’t even look at me. I don’t know what kind of person I was before I lost my memory, but I now know that I'm trying my best to be a good person.

“Dad, can I get one coffee with extra sugar and some cookies for table 3?”

“Sure honey.” In a minute coffee was ready and I was carrying it to the table 3 when I heard the same gunshot I heard in my bathroom.
I twitched and dropped the coffee mug.

I was still in shock when I heard someone yelling.

“Son of a bitch, this is a brand new skirt...au, au, au, hot, hot, hot…” Then she looked at me and started yelling again. “What is wrong with you? Don’t just stand there! Help me, this freaking hurts.”

I pulled myself together and went to the kitchen to get some cold wet towels and some oil. She was clearly in pain. I brought her these things and took her to the restroom to help her.

“I’m really sorry for what I did. I was distracted by something, you wouldn’t understand. Does it hurt??”

“Of course it hurts. The bloody coffee was hot like hell! But it’s ok. I understand, you didn’t mean to do it. Luckily, I'm wearing tights so they kind of protected me for a little bit.” She smiled at me, but I saw that she was in pain, even though she tried to hide it.

“Listen, I'll go get you some dry clothes. Why don’t you take off those wet clothes and put this cold wet towel on your wound and this oil too. It will help your skin heal and it will also reduce your pain.” I handed her oil and towel and I went outside.

She nodded and thanked me while I was leaving.

“Lacey, what just happened?”, my dad asked me. He looked really worried.
