We got our first look at Zane's father in season 2 episode 9. And the master of ice in season 4 episode 6. My guess is the master of ice that fought in the Serpentine war is a younger version of Zane's father. He is human so were did Zane get his power from? This one I have no logic to back it up.I think what happened was along this line.
At some point, Zane's father realized he was never going to have children and in order to make sure that there is a master of ice he built a robot to carry on his power. In season 3 Zane removed half of his power source to save P.X.A.L doing this altered his fighting skills and P.I.X.A.L said: "Your father built you out of spare pieces but this piece is unique a technology I am not familiar with." That is because Zane's father somehow found a way to put his power into Zane most likely his power source and that is what powered Zane also giving him ice power. When he removed the power source it altered his fighting skills because all of the fighting, power related knowledge fed into Zane's power source creating the ice ninja. Having this power also explains why Zane froze the entire city when he "died" because his "unlimited power" was limited to the ice power and exploding caused his heart to explode unleashing ice everywhere. How he got it back when he rebuilt himself or how he still powered himself after Chen stole it is still a mystery to me.
