(P.S. please excuse any spelling or grammar errors, I'm not very good with them hahaha)

I speak kind greetings to such amiable ladies and gentlemen for granting me you time of day and a chance at this offer. Alas, I must inform you of few things before my tale begins. My accomplishments may seem abject to such a crowd of skill but I, too, am a woman of profession. For I have mended many shoes in my days, from wooden to clothe and leather, as well. I have raised five out of seven children to adulthood; though I have lost some to sickness I still carried the rest to strength. These old and withered hands have bound gowns with string and trousers with thread and many more garments you wear today.

I thank you once more for this time we share, for every second is precious. All you must know of me is what has been said. Now, we shall begin a tale of family bonds and tragic ties, and l shall warn you of this, my tale indeed admits misfortune.

The Widow's Tale

My tale begins on a summer day in the naturalistic state of Maine, the evening sunlight shining gold tints onto pale skin and turning emerald eyes bronze. The flesh of which belongs to a young girl none other than Eliza Abner. A beautiful being composed of pale skin, bright green eyes, and golden streams of locks. Loose white fabrics strung together into a dress drape over her petite frame; each fold of the skirt bending and dancing against her legs. Vibrant grass glows in the light, contrasting with the dull shadows of the trees and creasing beneath her feet. Every step taken has been engraved behind Eliza's eyelids since the first say she started this stroll. Though, it has been quite long since she has felt these same pebbles beneath her feet or smelled the sweet, musty smell of the forest. She has missed it greatly but not nearly as much as her long lost companion.

The air is light and peaceful, emulating the sky. Not a single cloud litters the turquoise heavens. A soft breeze twirls through the branches of the flourishing woods, making the emerald leaves waltz to the rhythm Mother Nature's hums. Alas, a brutally familiar path creeps into view and it steeling the maiden's breath. But her steps do not falter for long, and she is soon sprinting to an aged willow tree where several flowers lay. Her eyes fall to the familiar meeting grounds to her best companion.

"Fair lady, It has been yet another month since we have spoken," Eliza's soft voice melted the silence "and I have missed you more than the flowers mourn the sun in the winter. Mother and father have both gone to waste in such a short while but our bond shall stand until the sun burns out. I cannot swear to the moon for it changes so often; each phase slightly different than the last until it either gleams or dulls. I could not ever compare my reflection to such an unreliable source. My dear sister, I miss the way your hair falls with mine, the way our eyes mirror one another's, how our smiles slant in the same directions. Our time was long but it felt like a flash of light on the water, disappearing just as quickly as it is seen and never shown again."

A small tear streams down Eliza's face and onto the gray stone below her. "Alas, I wish I could see you once more." Her voice cracks, her fingers gently tracing each letter carefully engraved on the textured surface. Although it is old it still as legible as the day it was planted at the top of the soil. Eliza's eyes trail down to it again. Such a simple engraving grips her heart every time.
