Lissa's POV
The next morning, I walked to the garden my mother had specially construed for me, with the intention of clearing my mind through nature. Faeries generally have a close bond and connection with nature and since my mother had no idea I was a faerie, she found my my love for gardening intriguing but always smiled and thanked me whenever I brought her flowers or fresh fruits.
I sat underneath a large oak tree, basking in the warm sunlight before proceeding to perform a few actions around. I could feel my connection with nature become stronger, our bond becoming more powerful as I made weak plants healthy, deformed plants normal and occasionally growing new plants when I felt the need to do so.
When I stopped, the garden looked as lovely as ever, as the smell of spring wafted through the air.
"Lissa? It appears you've out done yourself." Layla smiled walking in.
"Not quite." I said standing up. I walked to the marble fountain which stood in the middle of the garden and placed my hand above the water.
"Ect fier mnet noar soy ma nos."
The water glowed for a few seconds and when the light was gone, it looked cleaner than ever.
"Now its perfect."
"As much I would love to watch you practice magic all day, I'm afraid that would have to be another time. I came to tell you that you have a visitor." Layla informed with a small smile.
"Who is it?" I questioned.
She only made a zipping motion across her lips and stayed silent.
With a sigh of mock frustration, I gathered the skirts of my purple dress and walked out of the garden and into the house.
Arielle stood in the hallway with a few of her friends, talking eagerly but hushed up as I walked by.
I stopped and nodded to Layla who went to fetch my visitor. I thought it was rather odd because I wasn't expecting anyone - and Ron and Alexa knew better than to announce themselves as guests since we've know each other for so long, we're practically family.
Sudden chatter drew me from my deep thoughts and as I set my gaze on my visitor, my eyes widened in shock but I smiled a bit.
"Lissa." His brown eyes lit up with a smile.
"Nolen. What a nice surprise." I responded with a small curtsey and gasped when I saw a maid walk in with a vase full of roses.
They were so many, I wouldn't be surprised if they were up to hundred.
"Oh my...." One of Arielle's friends breath out in shock.
"A small peace offering.... And bait to a request." He said as I took a rose from the vase and sniffed the delicate petals, my lips turning up at the lovely scent.
"If this is your idea of small, I'd hate to see what your idea of huge is. What's your request?" I questioned softly.
"Spend the day with me. Please."
Well that was unexpected.
'Spend the day with me and I'll tell you everything.... Calm down. It's okay. My kind have been known for their telepathic and mind reading abilities. I won't hurt you. I'll tell you the rest later. I give you my word.' He softly spoke in my head.
"I would love to spend the day with you." I replied, not just because I would finally know what he is but because underneath the bright smile he wore, he looked........ Distraught.
He grinned and held out his elbow, which I put my hand on and followed him out. There was a carriage waiting and Nolen gently helped me in.
When I relaxed on the soft velvet seats, a sudden thought struck me and I groaned.
"What is it?" Nolen asked in concern.
"Nothing. Its nothing." I quickly said, trying not to think of the fact Arielle and her friends had seen Nolen and the roses.
I'm not sure why, but I felt afraid.
"Its frustrating, you know. Not being able to know what you're thinking." He muttered, looking out of the window.
"You mentioned mind reading earlier. Are all of your kind able do that?" I asked moving closer to him.
He glanced at me and averted his gaze back to the window.
"Most of us can as a major ability - it depends on the family. Others can lightly tell a feeling and or mood based on the scent of the person."
"You can't read my mind. Why?"
"That, Love, is exactly what I'd like to know." He replied nonchalantly.
I blushed at the sudden nickname and decided to change the subject.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Somewhere we can talk privately." He said as the carriage came to a stop.
Nolen stepped out and helped me out as well. Glancing around, I noticed a clear path that led to an array of trees.
"The woods?" I rasied an eyebrow turning to him.
"I also thought we could have a picnic by the lake." He confessed, staring at his feet.
"I think that would be lovely. Shall we?" I smiled taking the basket he had taken out of the carriage from him.
He smiled back and continued to lead the way. We talked normally for a few minutes about random things like nature, the weather, odd happenings around the kingdom, then finally, he brought up the matter at hand.
"I promised myself I'd be honest with you. My family doesn't necessarily approve of this but the fact that I'm making an effort to be... Normal almost makes it worth it. It's still a secret we've kept for so long, so I need you to swear. Under no circumstances will you tell anyone about this."
"You still don't trust me? I'm just like you - "
"I'm sorry, Lissa, but we're nothing alike. I don't think you've ever been judged because of what you are to the point where you were almost burnt alive. I know that because of how you act. You're always so bright and full of life and compared to me - a dark and hollow being.... I trust you enough to be talking to you right now. I just need you to swear to me." He stated seriously.
People tried to kill him because of what he is. Is it really that bad?
"Okay. I swear."
His eyes glazed over for a few seconds and his smile returned as he spoke.
"My kind have existed for centuries. We are actually one of the first supernatural beings to walk the earth. And my family has been around for quite a while. Guess my age."
"Uh...... 18?"
When he laughed as he held my hand and helped me over a log of wood, I knew I'd said something wrong.
"Nope. Guess again."
"118?"
"305."
I stopped in my tracks, too shocked to even breath.
"My family - the others are much older than I am. Serena - the eldest of us children - is 588 years old. Like I said, we've been around for a while. We don't age. We're fast, strong, we have the gift of sight, mind control and we can bend nature and elements to our will. But with every blessing comes a price. We're strong but the core of our creation, what gives us life, is also our weakness. The bloodlust."
We both stopped walking but I barely noticed as his last statement rang in my head.
The bloodlust....
"You're a vampire." I muttered, not moving at all.
"Yes, I am. And so is my entire family." He informed.
"Oh..... Wow. I've read a lot about your kind. I've always been fascinated by your powers and abilities. You're dangerous, but not as dangerous as I am."
This is it. I'm finally being true to myself.
"I'm becoming really interested in you, Love."
"My kind have walked this world since the dawn of time. We created some supernaturals but we mainly exist to keep the balance between good and evil and protect nature. We can control all elements and we also have a close bond with nature - as we are its keepers. We're difficult to kill but we aren't immortal. And we can be corrupted, effectively changing from good to evil."
"Are you ever going to tell me what you are?"
I grinned as we approached an open space near the lake.
"Do I have to? Can't you guess?" I teased, rushing to the edge of the lake.
"A witch?"
I giggled, making balls of water float around.
"I'm a faerie. You know... Mystical, wise creatures with wings? Also known as - "
"Guardians of this world. I've met a couple of faeries in my time but...... Why are you different? Most faeries give off this massive burst of power but you... I've never felt anything like it."
"Because its weak, right?"
"No. That's not it. Faeries generally give off this insane amount of energy that scares most supernatural creatures away. You, on the other hand, have this power to make people feel good. Its one of the reasons why I can't stop thinking about you."
I blushed, sitting on the grass as I mentally willed the floating bubbles of water to return to the lake.
"So you can control all four elements?" He asked sitting next to me.
"Yes, but not like other faeries do." I replied.
"How so?"
"I'm only half fae-blood. Part faerie, part human. That's probably why I don't give off the same magical aura as most faeries do."
He seemed to sense my uneasiness and decided to talk about something else.
"I.... Uh... Got an invitation to your sister's birthday ball. My family was invited."
"Oh. Right. She really wants you all there." I said.
"What about you?" He questioned.
"What about me?" I shot back.
"Do you want us there?"
"It's not my birthday but - "
"Do you want me to be there?"
I took in a shaky breath, looked deeply into his eyes and spoke.
"Yes. I want you to be there. Part of me wants you to come tonight and give Arielle all your attention. The other part of me wants you to never leave my side."
My gaze dropped to the grass and I'd begun to turn away when he reached out and gently turned my face back to him.
"I'll be there. And I won't leave your side."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hello Loves!
I hope you're having a great day. Let me start by apologizing for my inability to write two chapters. I really thought I would be able to but my weekend was severely busy and I couldn't. I really hope you enjoy this chapter and tell me what you think in the comments. This chapter is dedicated to my sour friend Gabe, who in my moments of loneliness, makes me smile.
There won't be a chapter this week because of my birthday - its on Friday the 17th - and so, I'll be back next week. Please use this week to share, vote and comment.
Oh! I almost forgot.... Happy Valentine's to you all and to all a great week.
Love you😘😘😘😘😘😘
P. S: I've been meaning to add that Arielle's hate for her sister is purely fictional. I adore my little sister and I consider all my girl friends sisters to me. It is not cool to hate or bully your sister who is supposed to be one of your closest friends. If you have a sister, please hug her and tell her you love her to infinity and beyond.
Bye😁😁😁😁😁
