The Alola region. A tropical paradise for all ages and pokemon types where new adventures are started every day. That is, unless you wake up at 11:24 in the morning.
"I'm late, I'm late, I'm so late!" Athena yelled as her black and wavy hair bounced behind her with immense tangles. The young teenager gasped for breath as she raced towards the famous pokemon school of Melemele island to meet with the professor, Kukui. She was supposed to have arrived 2 hours ago to help him teach a class and deliver pokemon to three lucky trainers.
However, with the way her day was going so far, Athena doubted she would even make it in time.

"Professor I'm here! Don't give away the pokemon yet!" Athena cried sliding through the doorway and looking around at the empty classroom. "I'm too late then huh.."
"Not quite," Kukui said behind Athena causing the girl to jump. "The kids may have left, but I'm still here."
"But I still missed what I've been waiting for all week."
"Well..I still have one pokemon left," he said reaching into his jacket pocket and setting the ball onto a table, before pressing the button unleashing a brilliant blue light. A small black and red figure appeared jumping down onto the table and huffing. "You've studied fire-type pokemon enough to know all about Litten here."
Staring at the kitten, Athena nodded and reached out to pet its head, but it pulled away. "Is someone coming to pick him up?'
"No. I was saving him for you," Kukui announced rubbing his chin as Athena gave him a skeptical look. "You're 14 and being stuck at home isn't what a girl like you should be experiencing. I see it in your eyes and I've decided I want you to travel around Alola for me and send information back that I can use in class."
"You mean.."
Kukui nodded and tossed the pokeball to the teen. "Now, if you would please go to Hau'oli city and pick up some ingredients I need for class. A bunch of different berries for a lesson on status affects."
"Y-yes! Of course Professor!" Athena said scrambling around to grab the list and Litten before stumbling towards the door. Professor Kukui watched her go and shook his head as the thud of a Litten hitting the floor was heard.
"Litten! Sorry!"

"Chesto berries, check." Athena said happily as Litten munched on some oran berries in the bag of berries. Smiling down affectionately at the kitten, Athena continued on with her shopping before her shoulder was roughly bumped into. The berries she was holding spilled onto the ground causing her to glare at the person that bumped into her. "Hey!"
"Yo yo yo, you talking to us!?" The team skull grunt snapped, turning around and glaring at the teen. "Who do you think you is?" He asked snapping his fingers and putting his hands up. "You're dealing with Team Skull now girly and you better watch yourself."
"Who?" Athena asked as Litten sat up in the bag and quirked his head.
"What do you mean who!?" The guy said shocked before taking out two pokeballs and throwing the into the air. A Salandit and Yungoos popped out hissing at Athena as Litten hissed back. "You messed up girly. Salandit, flameburst! Yungoos, bite!"
Shielding her face, Athena didn't see Litten jump out of her back and get hit by the flame burst before taking the bite of the Yungoos. He fell back into Athena causing her to fall back and grip the injured pokemon closer. "L-Litten!"
"Now you." The grunt said motioning for his pokemon to attack again.
Athena sat there holding Litten in her arms as the pokemon rushed at her. In the heat of the moment, she was helpless to do anything but pull her pokemon closer and shut her eyes tightly awaiting the blow. Instead of feeling the fiery sting, something was pressed against her and the sounds of the hits sounded right in front of, but she felt nothing. Opening her eyes, a large white mass was all she saw before the figure stepped back and straightened up, its blades shining in the sunlight.
"W-whoa man! That's cheating!" she heard the grunt yell as the Gallade looked down at her before turning to the man and huffed. The pokemon's back was lightly marked from the fire, but it seemed to take no actual damage as it jumped at the grunt causing him to fall to the ground before running off with his pokemon in tow.
"You saved me.." Athena whispered shakily standing up and holding Litten close to her body. She reached out to touch the pokemon before it suddenly jumped up and landed on the roof of one of the stores. Squinting against the sun, she tried to make out the pokemon as it followed another figure out of sight.
