DRACO
It's been Merlin knows how long since the second Wizarding War. Harry and I haven't seen each other since. From time to time I think of the boy who lived. The boy who had had smooth, olive skin and bright green eyes and circular glasses.
I laugh when I think about our first meeting. What a stupid boy I had been. My chuckle goes dry as I think about what other stupid things I had done. I think about the twins. How is George? Is he faring well, I wonder. I can still remember vividly his brother's funeral. Even as I stood at the very back, I could still see the pain in the Weasleys' eyes. And oh god, Harry and Granger. Their faces were so full of remorse and regret. I stayed back a while then and I could've sworn I was seen. Perhaps by a Weasley. Perhaps by the dead twin's brother.
What I can't remember very well though is the old man's face. Oh, how I hated that man. I hated how much I couldn't hate him. I hated how much I respected him.
I thought of more things. My years at hogwarts were long and tiring ones. I thought of how much of it I spent alone. Which was most of the time.
I sat there for a good while with my head down, tears streaming down my face as the sky above me started pouring. I watched my brand new shoes get soaked. Sighing, I picked up my jacket getting ready to stand up when-
"Draco?"
I looked up at the familiar voice and was greeted with eyes I knew a bit too well. Harry. For a moment, all was silent, except the pouring rain.
"Hello, Potter," I muttered.
I run my fingers through my hair, pushing my hair back, revealing my puffy, red face. I stared at him for a little longer, savoring the dryness Harry's umbrella provided.
"How's Ginny?" I asked, almost spitting her name.
He was quiet for a bit, lowering his head,"...up."
I twisted my head a little to look at him,"what?"
"We...ke..p," he whispered.
"I either must be growing deaf or you're just becoming mute. Speak up," I crossed my arms.
"WE BROKE UP!" He suddenly yelled.
I flinched a little at his raised voice. He rarely ever yelled. I sighed.
"I didn't think you two would last long any-," I stopped when I saw his tears.
"Shut up, Malfoy. What do you know about love when you barely lasted 5 years with your wife?" He spat between my feet.
"Good to see you still have your good manners."
"Good to see you're still a dick."
We laughed and Harry wiped his tears and snot with a handkerchief.
"Let's grab a cup of coffee, Potter. I haven't seen you in ages," I said.
"What, did you miss me?" He teased.
"Oh shut up Potter," I laughed.
"Or what, you'll tell your father?"
My god. I will never hear the end of this. I flicked his forehead.
"Ouch!" He cried out, rubbing his forehead.
"Come on, Potter, there's a coffee shop just a few blocks away," I said.
When he didn't move, I grabbed his hand and lead him to a nearby cafe. We sat down inside and ordered some coffee.
"So you're still a crybaby huh?" I said, resting my chin on my hand.
"Oh hush will you, I saw you weeping just a few moments before," he stuck out his tongue.
I let out a dry chuckle and sipped my coffee, reliving those moments I thought about just before Harry came.
"I'm sorry, Draco, I didn't mean to offend you," Harry said.
I waved my hand, brushing it off and looked out the window.
We were quiet for a while before Harry's knee hit the table.
"Ow!" He cried out, grabbing his knee.
I burst out laughing.
"Still a klutz, eh?"
I kept on laughing and soon after, Harry joined.
After the laughter died down, Harry tapped my foot.
"Tell me what you were crying about, Draco," he said, his eyes looking right into mine.
So I did.
Soon after, we both had tears down our faces and strange looks were directed our way.
"I'm sorry, Draco. It..it wasn't all your fault. You didn't have a choice.." Harry offered.
I smiled and nodded, looking out the window.
"A rainbow," Harry and I said together.
We both grinned and grabbed our cups, quickly going outside and breathing in deep the smell of rain. We found a dry bench and faced the rainbow in front of us.
I inhaled the cool air and looked at the boy next to me. The boy who struggled. The boy who was just a boy. The boy who didn't have a choice. I looked at him and saw myself. Harry turned and looked at me and I think he saw he same thing. We turned back to the rainbow. I touched his hand, right next to me. When he didn't object, I grabbed his whole, calloused and warm hand. I squeezed and out of the corner of my eye, I saw him smiling and after a bit, I did too.All was well.
