April. A new month has started. Which also means I have to get my lazy ass a job. I mean I'm living off of loans and some help from my family. If I don't have enough money to pay rent I'm going to end up back home and I'd much rather stay here, where I already am.

Where can I even apply though? Jobs aren't usually tough to get around here but they're picky on part times. Since I'm a university student that's what I would be going for. Starbucks? Popeyes? Some office job? Library assistant? I honestly don't know. But whatever job it is I'll be glad to take it.

I open up my laptop and start job hunting and apply to a few places. Having a job will also make my life more interesting. I need some excitement. A notification pops up on my screen.
*Facebook message from Rosette Foyer: "hey, what are you up to?"*

My job hunting didn't last long so I ended up going out to a café with Rosette. Café Coyue. Last time we were there it was that night. But I'm past that. Past him.

I admired the café. It was cozy and welcoming with its soothing music and cute cheap mini chandelliers. It had photographs just like any other artistic coffee shop but these were of people around town. People can come and give their own photos in to the staff and they would put them up on the wall. It could be scenery or even them. There's one photo of me and my friends up on the wall too. It's fun to look at everyone's different experiences.

"I already know what we're both getting," Rosette says.
"Of coarse you do"
"A medium light vanilla swirl latte with a strawberry shot and extra whipcream"
"Exactly. Does it ever change?"
"Nope it's that good," Rosette smiles and walks up to the counter to order.

"...Oh and extra whipcream," I hear Rosette giggle.
"Wow that's quite a drink."
"Yea it's a little something we like."
I went to the counter to see what was up. And boy oh boy that guy behind the counter was dreamy. I caught myself staring and quickly flinched out of it. Rosette nudged me because she found him cute too.
"I know, I know," I whispered to her while he was getting our drinks ready.

"2 vanilla swirl lattes with a strawberry shot," he called out.
Then I realized the name on his nametag.
"Hey wait, Elijah?"
"Yea what's up? Oh wait a minute you're Jera"
"So you're the guy who tried adding me on facebook"
"Yea I've heard about you so why not add a pretty girl like you"
"Awww," I smiled blushingly. I was flattered. "You wanna go for coffee sometime?" What am I even saying? He works in a goddamn café. Was there no place else I could think of?
"Haha sure," he said smilingly either way.

Rosette and I went back to the table we were sitting at and started sipping our drinks.
"Okkk Jera, getting it with a guy again I see you."
"Whaaatt, he's seems like a nice guy and he's really cute."
"That's true, I agree, go for him," she said and winked.

The next day around 5:30pm, when Elijah was done his shift for the day, we met up. We were at the café once again but hey it is a nice cozy place. Man he's cute. His blonde wavy hair and green eyes. We were sitting there across from each other, not saying much.

"So, what's the story behind that drink you both ordered yesterday? No one has ever ordered something that clever." he said.
"Oh well, I don't even know. I guess you could say we've got creative minds and like trying things out. Did you try it?" I said grinning.
"Yea! I had to. You two are genius"
"Oh stop it," I said jokingly.

We didn't even bother ordering anything we just wanted to talk. We got to know each other.

"How long have you been working here?" I asked.
"Well it's been like almost 2 years, I love it here though. I mean once I moved east from Colorado for university, I needed a job and this place seemed pretty sick. The manager took me in right away without even a proper interview."
"Woah, for real? Man... I need a job too, you're lucky to have gotten one so easily." I sighed.
"I can hook you up here?"
Right then, my face suddenly glew.
"Really?"
"Yea why not, you look like you can handle the job. And once Dave hears about your miracle drink, he'll take you in for sure"

I couldn't even express how excited I was. Not only am I about to get hired but I get to work next to Elijah and become even better friends with him. I was beyond happy.

"I think he's in the back right now, I'll go get him." he said quickly.
"Oh wait, right now? I'm not even-"
"It's fine, you got this don't even worry about it."

A shiver of nervous feelings came over me for a few seconds. I wasn't even ready to talk to him. I don't have my resume or anything. Atleast I'm not dressed too trashy or lazy or anything.

He came out, walking towards me with a straight face, Elijah tagging along behind him, smiling.

Without saying anything he just gestured his hand out for a hand shake.
"Uh hi, I'm-"
"Elijah who is this girl why would you bring her," he said with a serious tone.
"Im just messing witchya," he said laughingly.
"Oh haha, well I'm Jera Laveye, nice to meet you."

"Elijah here told me that you have some ideas to bring to the table."
"Oh well, I guess. There's just this drink that me and my friend came up with that we always order from here."
"Is that so? Well go on behind the counter and prepare us 2."
"Oh sir, I don't even know where everything is."
"You'll be fine, you want this job don't you?"

I rushed towards the kitchen showing him that I indeed do want the job. I really didn't know much about where all the ingredients were. I actually didn't even know the full recipe. I rustled through the kitchen until I found a book.

"Drink Recipes", it said. Perfect. I flipped to the latte section and figured out how to put the vanilla drink together. I added in a strawberry shot each and some whipcream to top it off.

"Order up," I shouted out as I walked towards the table with their drinks.

Elijah looked at me and winked with a grin. They took their drinks from my hands and took a sip. I waited patiently for a response.

"Well this is absolutely genius, tasty," the manager said.
"I told you she had a good idea."
I had a big smile of satisfaction on my face. I pulled it off.

"Welcome to Café Coyue, Jera. You'll need to learn to serve quicker than that though," he said smilingly.
"Don't worry sir, I will."
"With my help for sure," Elijah added.
"Call me Dave by the way," my new manager said.

Dave went off and left me and Elijah to talk.
"I told you!! Congrats," he said.
"Thank you so much!" I hugged him impulsively.
He smiled. His hug felt so comforting.
I liked being close to him.

"Café coworkers?" he asked.
"Café coworkers."

He pulled out his phone and took a photo of us smiling together.
"This shall go up on the photo wall soon enough, mini celebratory picture," he said while smiling at me.

My new job was going to be perfect.
