The hallway seems a mile long as I run to Milo's room hoping I get there in time. I slow down when I make it there, I need to compose myself, I have to be strong for him. Looking through the window at him as he lays there with his eyes closed , my mom standing next to him, her body quaking with tears makes it even harder to stop crying. I cover my mouth to silence my sobs, this can't be happening, not to my little brother. Wiping my tears away with the sleeve of my flannel I take a deep breath and reach for the door knob. Just as my fingers touch it a hand is on my shoulder spinning me around, how did he get here so fast, I left him at the park.
"Cypress, please let me tell you this." his words are rushed as his eyes beg for me to hear him out.
"What?" He takes a deep breath before answering.
"Just as I can take life I can give it."
"How?"
"By giving mine up." He steps around me offering a sad smile before he resumes my actions and reaches for the knob.
"I love you Cypress Adner."
"Grey wait," he doesn't stop and once he passes over the threshold he's no longer the Grey I know. He's just a man shaped cloud of black smoke with huge wings just like the ones I've been seeing for the past week. When he reaches Milo's bed Colin's smoky form appears and roars at Grey but he ignores him.
"I love you too." I whisper my confession as his finger lands on Milo's chest and a bright gold light engulfs the entire room and then he's gone. Everything is gone.
