LEO
The Argo II was really starting to annoy Leo. This morning he'd woken up to steam seaping out of the floor boards of the deck. Franticly he ran to the hatch in the deck and pulled it open. With one glimpse he knew it was bad. Really, really bad. Leo cursed.
He looked at the masthead and muttered " Come on Festus, I'm doing everything I can. GIve me a break here! ." Naturally the dragon head didn't respond. The sun glittered across the masthead, making Happy the Dragon look like he was on fire. The sun was rising to fast. Leo sighed and stepped down into the steaming engine room, cursing. He pulled a wrench out of his magic toolbelt and banged at some pipes of his choice a couple of times. What was wrong? No valves seemed to be loose. Anything could be wrong with the engine. Maybe the headgasket could have come loose, that would be causing the steam, and if it was bad enough...Leo banged at the pipes some more out of desperation. This could never be fixed in time!
No Leo, Don't think like that. That will get you no where. He imagined his mom's voice: Most problems are worsed than they look mijo. Nothing is unfixable. His mom could fix almost everything, but he was pretty sure she had never worked on a flying Greek war ship.
Leo was pulled out of his train of thought by the sound of footsteps barreling across the deck. He looked over his shoulder to see a girl with long dark hair and a boy with short blonde hair barreling towards him. He banged the pipe again just as a long stream of oil sprayed out of one of the pipes, dousing Leo. Cursing Leo banged at the pipes again with his wrench
"Leo, what happened " Piper sighed as she and Jason bent down with concern and looked into the hatch to the engine room. Leo cursed some more after a spay of water shot at him from the radiator. He banged the pipes again.
"You realize it's the soltice," Piper said, "We're supposed to leave today."
"I know that!" Leo said as he whacked the engine a few more times. "Could be the fizzrockets. Could be the samophlange. COuld b Gaea messing with us again, I'm not sure!"
"How long?" Jason asked.
"Two, three days?"
"They might not have that long," Piper warned as she stood up and ran off the deck leaving Leo and Jason staring at the engine.
Leo turned to Jason and his oily black curls bobbed as he turned his head. " Man, is it just me, or did you feel like something was watching us? It left but..."
"Yeah, I did, it didn't feel evil though, it wasn't Gaea." Jason frowned. "But the Feast of Fortuna is tommorrow, if we don't get to Camp Jupiter, I'm afraid there won't be a Camp Jupiter to go to."
" I'm trying man. I'm working as fast as I can!" Leo scowled. Just at that moment the Hephaestus cabin ran down the dock and jumped onto the ship, led by Piper.
"Okay," Nyssa said grimly, "Lets fix this ship."
