Gaudy, gold sequins and the scent of chemically makeup swarms around Brandy, making his head swim.

He tries to back away, but there is a long, pale arm entangling him in a clingy embrace, and he gulps for fresh air.

All this power and money, and Brandy can't even get a damn prostitute off of him.

"Miss Beaconsfield." He breathes, and instantly, the cheap scratchy material disappears.

"Yes?" She purrs immediately, placing one red tipped claw over his hand.

"This has been a very productive meeting I am sure." Brandy offers a tentative smile, scooting away from her grasp.

"I am very pleased that you think so." She says, subtly leaning in to reveal a not very meeting appropriate top.

"Yes, and because it was very productive, our time here is over." Brandy does not like the insatiable gleam that has formed in her eyes.

"But why end it now when we can talk some more?"

The way she says talk makes Brandy feel that she does not simply want to just to make small talk, or talk about funding her so called business.

He stands up hastily, ending the conversation abruptly.

"I am terribly sorry, but I have to make some important business calls." He mumbles, and the lady pouts like a kitten denied of its cream.

"Very well." She pulls down her not very concealing skirt and puts a hand on Brandy's shoulder, letting it trail suggestively down his black silk tie. "I will see you later, Ray Ray."

She gives him a poorly timed wink and slinks away, taking time in exiting the room.

Brandy slumps back into his seat with a gusty sigh.

The resting period is short lived.

Soon after, tall oak doors swing open, revealing a woman with a slim figure and high bun.

"Mister Scotch." Seo-Yun says in her usual clipped tone. "I have some information about a recent criminal you want?"

A groan can be vaguely heard in the direction of an imposing mahogany desk.

Only then does Seo's hard demeanor crumble, lips curving into a ghost of a smile. "A hard day, I assume."

"You don't know the half of it." Brandy flings an arm over his eyes, exhaustion tightening around his neck.

"I suppose the woman in revealing clothes is not a threat?"

"No, unless you count strangling your victims to death with cheap perfume."

Seo runs a thumb over her clipboard, a waterfall of black bangs shielding her eyes. "I suggest you listen to the information I have gotten about the criminal. It is very urgent."

Brandy perks up slightly.

A figure in black pops into his mind, and the weariness that had crept up his bones now recedes, replaced with a fire he hasn't had in a long time.

Criminal Black Cat, as he likes to call her (along with other more creative names), has proved as a break from the monotonous routine that is his life. She is unpredictable, wild, and unbelievably slippery.

He has come inches close to ensnaring her in his gloved fist, only for her to melt away into the shadows, leaving Brandy wondering if he had even seen her at all.

She is an elusive dream that he needs to catch.

"She has been spotted again, breaking in to local greenhouse Lotus Wings and stealing a handful of flowers before exiting."

The frantic dark cloud Brandy has worked himself into falls flat, confusion at the tip of his tongue. "Flowers?" He asks, disbelief palpable in his tone.

"These flowers are an extremely poisonous taxon known as Datura." Seo gives a pointed look at Brandy. "If ingested, they can cause extreme illness and hallucinations."

Brandy falls back into his chair, a headache threatening to break through. "She stole a bunch of flowers?"

"Deadly flowers. People have gotten seriously injured from eating too many of its seeds. However, if you choose to pursue her, we have gotten anonymous tips from citizens who've identified her whereabouts."

Seo's sharp features twist into an unpleasant expression.

"What?" Brandy asks.

"I highly suggest you don't, sir."

"Well, why not?" There is a slight pause, then a reluctant huff.

"It is past midnight, she could have brought more allies, and you haven't even had dinner yet."

Brandy's laughter bounces against the wood paneling, startling Seo and causing a faint blush to settle on her porcelain skin.

"Your concern is adorable." He reaches over the desk, ruffling the woman's orderly hair. "Don't worry, I've fought people much worse than a girl who plays pretend."

As Seo hastily reaches up to straighten her locks, Brandy rises from the brown leather chair, face set in hard determination.

In two strides, he is across the room and halfway out the door.

"Make sure you feed Tubbs while I'm gone. He gets very agitated when he is hungry."

And then Brandy is gone.
