Lol so, take note of the title, you'll get a laugh from it after you read this chapter
*Petes POV*I launch myself off the floor from the loud and rude awakening. I cover my ears at the deafeningly loud wail of the sirens. The moment I opened my eyes, I realized the lights had began working again. Now not only is there a loud screeching noise, but the sudden introduction to the light burned my eyes. But after spending a few hours in nearly total darkness, what else could you expect besides stinging eyes? I'm still sleepy and my mind is fogged, like steam on a bathroom mirror after a fresh, hot shower. It was almost like those nights when you sit straight up in your bed, out of breath from a nightmare and for a few seconds nothing seems to make any sense.
Despite the burning I keep my eyes open in search of Patrick, Whom I notice is against the wall on the opposite side of the elevator in the same position I am, only his eyes are closed. I feel the elevator shift mildly before the sirens die down slightly. I can't help but blink my eyes as they slowly- very slowly- adjust to the new light. I wrap my arms around Patricks waist, and he squints, then blinks his eyes open too.
Suddenly I hear the work of machinery. Gears turning, ropes tightening, things in motion. The feeling- like everything in my stomach has shifted upwards- begins to set in as our seemingly weightless bodies are lifted. The power is back.
I don't know whether to be happy, or disappointed in the fact that I will no longer be trapped in the small space with Patrick. In here it was just so easy to get close to him; not that it wasn't outside of the elevator either. He is my husband after all, and I could have him any time I wanted, because I know exactly which buttons to push to make him go from gentleman to, "freak in the sheets." I know all the right things to whisper, all the right buttons to push to make him release his inhibitions and turn in to a sex maniac. But inside it was different; hotter, tighter, your lungs grasping for oxygen that just isn't there, practically being forced to share every atom of space with each other. Like two teenage star crossed Lovers in the back of moms car after a night out. In this small space, it was like the entire outside world just melted away, and nothing or no one mattered except love and lust. Like we we're alone, but Alone Together.
By now the sirens have completely stopped, and as the elevator steadily climbs upward towards our floor Patrick and I realize that we are practically still naked. We scramble to find our own clothes, which are mixed and thrown about the floor, to get fully dressed before anyone can see us in our current state. The elevator suddenly stops, and for a moment, nothing happens. We're mostly dressed; me still shirtless and Patrick with his undershirt peaking out from his non-buttoned up shirt.
There's a click and then a loud buzz, almost like ones you'd hear on those crappy reality game shows.
The doors burst open, and the first thing we see is a giant crowd of people. Some are hotel employees, some are firefighters, paramedics, paparazzi (I'm sure this will make a great cover story for STAR magazine. Headline: FOB lead singer and bassist trapped in elevator for 4 hours) others are worried fans. The moment the doors open, we are suffocated in the flash of a dozen cameras and all hell breaks loose as the Paps fight to get closer.
"HEY! BACK THE HELL UP!!" I hear a fan yell "THEY WERE JUST TRAPPED IN A FUCKING ELEVATOR GIVE THEM SPACE!" she continued. But the Paps could care less. They want a story- not good well being towards others- so they just keep pushing forward. The fans however? They weren't having that shit, and they basically formed a human circle around us, blocking the paps while giving us enough space. It was just in time too; because by the look on Patricks face I could tell that the mixture of having just gotten off the elevator and the large swarming crowd of Paparazzi, he was becoming claustrophobic.
