"Gabi, it's time to go. I got work today. Tell Mia to pack her sweater."
Gabi rolled her eyes and marched up the stairs as hard as her nimble legs would allow her. She dragged her arm behind her against the wall and slowly approached her older sister's bedroom. She peered through the cracked door and saw her sister sitting on her bed. She was wiping her red, inflamed eyes while looking at a photo of her and her boyfriend, Tyde. She sighed roughly then looked up. Soon, she noticed Gabi's beady hazel eyes peeking through the door.
Mia yanked the door open and folded her arms. "What, shrimp?" She asked angrily. Gabi started to shake from nervousness. "Um, uhh uh M-Mom, s-s-said p-pack y-your jacket." She said nearly crying. Mia sighed then hugged her tight. "Gabs don't force your words, okay? You know you start to cry when your impairment kicks in." She said kissing her cheek.
The sisters walked downstairs with suitcases in hand and tears rolling down cheeks ask they looked at the now empty house that they spent the only life they knew in. Their mom honked the horn and slowly sat in the car and adjusted her seat for her 3 month belly.
Mia and Gabi put their suitcases in the trunk, and Mia helped Gabi buckle into the broken seatbelt. The family took off in the car and Gabi looked back at the house until it disappeared in the willows that surrounded their street. 15 hours was ahead of them and then the life they once lived will become something new. Gabi prayed that she would be able to make friends.
