The Kingdom Part 1

Another day, another challenge. With so many people in the kingdom, ruling was never an easy task. The day had just begun and I had a full schedule up ahead. I stood up staring out the castle window when I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Good morning mon captain" My trusty advisor and best friend greeted me. "Good morning Sworn, how are you on this fine morning?" We walked through the castle hallway continuing our chat. Today I had a meeting with the east kingdom ruler, Prince Mathieu. "Are the horses ready Sir Sworn?" we walked out the castle doors to the front gate. With an assured look on his face he nodded. "Wonderful! We should be leaving shortly." In the distance I had seen my loyal knights walking in my direction. Knight Neo, Matty and Sir Martin were being led by the General to the castle gates. Once they had approached me I was greeted by the general. "Your majesty, we are all set for the journey to the east kingdom." "Thank you General, I am very grateful for your continuous service to our kingdom." The general cracked a smile and slightly bowed his head. I cleared my throat. "Good morning everyone, today our journey to the east kingdom shouldn't take us long. We should be back home by dawn. Saddle up the horses, we leave immediately." We all got on our horses and made our way to the route. "We shall be back."

So off we went, through the villages and off into the forest. "Knight Matty, has there ever been any suspicion of spy's trying to enter the Royal Kingdom?" I asked, making sure all our security was in check. "None at all your majesty, but we haven't-" a heavy wind cut off Matty's sentence and halted our horses. Sir Sworn took a look ahead. "It seems as if a storm is approaching" I pulled up my hood and commanded my horse to carry on. "Stay warm gentlemen, our journey is not over yet." The cold winds kept blowing as we continued on our way. A white spec quickly passed my eyes, and then another one followed. Soon enough it started to profusely snow and the wind had become stronger. My men and I covered our faces with scarves as the wind became even more aggressive. My view of our path has started to become foggy and white. We were caught in a snow storm. I shouted "Hang in there men!" we struggled through the storm with our horses being pushed back by the current. Through the snowy white haze I saw a light peeking through in the distance." We're a few feet from the gates. Let's keep it up."

Once we had reached the east kingdom gates we were greeted by the guards and brought into the castle for shelter. As I take off my fur cloak I hear a familiar voice call to me. "Hello Princess" I turn around to see my long-time friend Prince Mathieu. "Why hello there Math, nice to see you still keep your castle in order." I pretend to examine the walls and furniture jokingly. "Oh yea of course, we do work hard to keep a good reputation." Mathieu greets my crew and leads us all to the meeting room. We all sit down in our carved wooden chairs and start talking business. Prince Mathieu puts his hands together with a feather pen between his fingers. "As you are all well aware the kingdom of Armentha and our kingdoms have not been in agreement lately." I continue his sentence. "If we cannot keep peace with them a war will be at our hands." Sir Sworn asks curiously "What is it that they want?" The General looks towards Sir Sworn. "They want to expand their land." Sir Martin interrupts "But the only land around them is ours!" Prince Mathieu nods "Precisely, they have hinted that if we do not hand over some land they-" Suddenly the glass windows were being smashed to shards. We all stood up and grabbed our weapons. I shouted "Were being ambushed!" Prince Mathieu was shocked. "How did they get past the guards?" "There's no time to lose your highness." Knight Neo draws his sword and stands in front of Prince Mathieu guarding him. The Armentha warriors jumped through the broken windows and charged through the doors. I grab my two swords and we all start to fight the enemy's men. I dodged the attack of an Armentha warrior as he tried to attack me. I clashed swords with him blocking his attack. As I was fighting I felt a presence coming from behind me on my right side. I swung my right sword and sliced the warrior behind me then I turned back to quickly finished off my main opponent. I then herd one of my men yell "Knight Neo!" I turn around to see Neo wounded and laying on the ground. The General finishes Neo's attacker and my crew manages to defeat the rest of the enemy's warriors. I quickly walk past the fallen men and attend to Neo. "You'll be fine... Sir Sworn find a doctor stat." Knight Neo passes out unconscious as Knight Matty and the General bring Neo to a safe area.

With a look of disgust and rage I declared; "They infiltrated our castle walls. Intended to kill our men and still dare to take our land. This means war!"
