A/N: Hey this is my first story and I don't know what format to use so... Lets just go with it, shall we? P.S. I DONT OWN ANY SONGS USED IN THIS CHAPTER. :)
"Hey Grandma... Yeah I made it here... Yes, I just got of the plane... Bye!" I hung up my phone and walked to go get my luggage. My best friend, Katheraine, had invited me to stay at her house for a while. After all the trouble in Maine, I needed to get away for a while.
Somewhere like California.
I was sixteen and perfectly capable of taking care of myself. After I picked up the two suitcases that held everything I owned, I headed to the lobby in search of Katheraine.
"Kyndell!" I heard a high pitched, Katheraine-like sound and turned around to see her slim figure charging towards me. She knocked into me and we spent about ten seconds doing that awkward hug-and-pat thing until she broke away. "Oh my god, I missed you so much!" Katheraine was the only friend I had back in Maine.
"I missed you too!" Katheraine and I had met in honors choir during seventh grade. At first I couldn't stand the girl, but then one day the song Everybody Talks by the Neon Trees came on the radio, and the rest is history. Needless to say, she was the closest person I'd ever had to a friend.
As we left the building I listened to Katheraine drone on about California, shopping, hot guys, and how her life had been since she moved. Kat and I were total opposites. She was a social butterfly, while I was a social disgrace. She made kids laugh, while I made kids cry without saying a word. She could cook, while I burned cereal.
But, I could name every Roman god and rap Nicki Minaj's part in Bang Bang. That had to count for something, right?
Sitting in the fire lane of the airport was a shiny pink bug. "Don't you just love my new car!" Katheraine squealed, drawing the attention of some nearby skaters. "Daddy got it for me before he went on his trip to Florance,"
"It's very... Bright," I said, forcing myself to keep my voice neutral.
We crammed ourselves into the small car and Katheraine started driving.
An hour and seventeen minutes. I had to sit through an hour and seventeen minutes of the worst road rage I'd ever heard. Some of the things Katheraine yelled out the window put sailors to shame. Also, she demanded we listen to the newest Taylor Swift album the entire way home.
"Yes! We are finally here! Get out of my car!" Katheraine seemed glad to be back home.
That was about the time I looked up and saw the ginormous mansion sitting in front of my face. It looked like the mother-effing white house "Holy... Shit..."
Katheraine just laughed, "What were you expecting? A tent?" I shut my mouth and grabbed my two bags. We walked into the house and up many stairs to the third floor. May I just point out that I hate stairs. I'm the most clumsy, uncoordinated, accident prone person that has ever lived. So a room on the third floor made my stomach turn. "You can put your stuff in the last room on the right. Get some sleep, you look like crap." and with that Katheraine disappeared.
I walked into my new room to find that it was already totally decked out. The walls were painted a seafoam green color with white borders. The bed was zebra print and a matching lamp sat on the bedside table.
After I put my clothes in the closet and my laptop on the desk, I examined myself in the full length mirror attached to the bathroom door.
Sighing, I faced the facts. Boring. Plain blue eyes and long dark hair. I trailed my hands down my sides and my frown deepened. My body was so gross. My hips poked out in all the wrong ways and my arms were bigger then my boobs. I decided to deal with my anxiety later, and turned my back to my reflection.
Fatigue hit me and I decided to try out my new bed. Before I visited Wonderland once again, I couldn't help but think that maybe this could be a fresh start for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I woke up around three to the smell of something delicious coming from downstairs. Not bothering to fix myself, I wondered downstairs. I heard Katheraine singing along to Call Me Maybe, and I joined her. She laughed and handed me a bowl of... "What is this exactly?"
"It's like lasagna," I cautiously took a bite and swallowed.
"Hm. Not bad," She cheered and went back to singing.
I turned to leave after I had eaten. "Kyn, we are going to meet my friends around five okay?" I groaned, "Come on, they're really nice!" I thought for a minute, weighing the pros and cons. She did feed me.
"Fine," I heard her cheering and giggling as I went back into my room. This was going to be a long night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~At four I started getting ready. I had no idea what to wear, so I just pulled on a pair of galaxy leggings and a purple Lord Of The Rings t-shirt. It wasn't cold out, but I grabbed a black jacket to cover my scarred arms. That would be an interesting introduction: "Hey guys! This is Kyndell. Yeah, do you see those marks? They aren't birth marks! A cat? Oh no! She's never touched a cat!"
Yeah, no.
I pulled my hair into a braid and left a few pieces framing my face. Even though I didn't look anything close to perfect, I didn't look like Miss Piggy. Mission accomplished.
"Kyndell, lets go!" Katheraine whined, popping her curled head into my room. "Chop, chop!" She fussed.
I pulled on my converse and followed her out the door. This was going to be 'fun'.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Katheraine walked right past her car and onto the sidewalk. "Umm, Katheraine? Where are you going?"
"To see my friends," I felt like slapping her.
"No! I knew that! Where are your friends? The backyard?" I asked, looking at her like she had magically transformed into a huge hotdog.
"Oh! They live next door," Okay, now I feel stupid. When we reached the door Katheraine didn't even have to knock, it swung open revealing a guy.
An actual living, breathing, walking, talking, GUY.
My eyes went wide and I must have looked like I was about to explode. My brain was screaming at me to run back to Katheraine's. My temper flared as I realized Katheraine brought me here.
"Hey Ricky! This is Kyndell, she's going to be staying with me for a while," Ricky smiled at me and snapped his fingers.
"Gurlll, lemme tell you, those tights are totally Twerkin' pants!" A rogue laugh escaped my lips and Katheraine guided me into the huge house. I pulled Her to the side and started a whisper argument with her.
"Katheraine! These are guys! You know how I feel about guys!" I panicked. In my defense I had a pretty bad history with the male species.
"Don't worry, they're not like most guys. Stop being such a baby!" Katheraine snapped. I groaned and allowed Kat to lead me farther into the strange building.
I met Connor, Kian, Jc and Trevor. Katheraine was right about them not being like most guys. When I was near them I didn't get goosebumps.
They all had small quirks that made me kind of like them. Connor was extremely hyper and was always buzzing. Trevor could sing, like really good. Jc was super funny and seemed to be genuinely nice. Kian wasn't afraid to be himself, plus, he had like that BEST facial structure, like ever.
I was wondering around, trying to find Katheraine, who had left me alone. I was going to strangle her.
I turned a corner and froze as I came face to face with a pair of deep chocolate eyes.
A/N: I have NO idea how long or how short you all like these updates so I just winged it. I hope you didnt have TOO much trouble reading this. I'll probably update again tonight, but we shall see children!
