S T O R Y F I F T E E N:
Every fiber in his body told him he could do it. He bent down, touching his hands to the tar.
A slight breeze cut through the unrelenting warm air.
Tension grew like a flower as the ref moved up to the track.
With a pounding heart, he blocked out the other runners.
Beside him, the he saw the gun rising, and he knew it was time. As the sound of the gunshot rocketed through the air, he took off. Pulling ahead of the other runners, he reveled in the moment.
He felt unleashed. And he knew he would win now.
