It was a cold and lazy day in Russia, where Yuri Plisetsky hid in his den accompanied by his friend Otabek Altin. After they met in Spain they had become really close friends and Otabek would often travel to Russia to stay over with his friend. They enjoyed each other's presence, specially Yuri. He would always feel happy with Otabek, but not family happy, it was something much stronger, and he didn't know what it meant. He thought it was just emotions you'd get with a new friend at first, but then it started to change out of the friend subject, and he wasn't ready to admit it. He wasn't going to admit he was in love with his friend. Sure he felt special near him, his breath would leave at his sight or touch, and his heart would flutter like no other time, but no matter what he wasn't going to ruin this.

"Hey, Yuri?"

"Yeah?"

"Tomorrow is going to be Valentines day"

"Yeah so"

"So...are you going to do anything special?"

Yuri was frozen. He didn't know what to say and a stupid blush started crawling up to his cheeks. His brain was telling him it was just to hang out, but his heart screamed it was a date.

"No, Valentines day sucks" Yuri answered in his most venomous tone he could find.

"Oh...Okay" Otabek softly answered and Yuri could feel...heartbreak? In his tone.

Silence covered the atmosphere and Yuri couldn't help but think why did Otabek sound so disappointed in him denying him...sure it was rough but this seemed different from how he'd react. It made him feel sad too, and he had to fix it.

"I mean...unless you want to hang out-not as in date! No that's stupid, gross even but as in friends, you know."

For some reason, he made things worse. Otabek looked like a lost kitty as he sighed and nodded.

*Could it be that...its not as in friends..? No, that's stupid! He doesn't like me, gosh you're stupid brain* Yuri thought to himself and decided to ignore the situation.

Some time went by, and they finally decided to get out of the den. It was sundown but the streets were lit and people walked side to side. It was a lovely atmosphere even though most of the people in view were just couples and that twisted something in Yuri's stomach.

"Why must everyone be so lovey dovey this month" Yuri groaned

"It is the month of love Yuri, one could at least expect it"

"I guess you're right...gosh it's freezing out here" Yuri said as he shivered hugging himself

"A figure skater with cold huh, the "Ice Tiger" huh" Otabek chuckled

"Oh, shut up"

"Here..." Otabek said as he took off his coat and put it over Yuri's shoulders

"Oh um t-thanks" Yuri whispered with a slight blush and a young lady approached them.

"Aww how cute...here! A rose to share the bond of a couple!" The lady said and it triggered something on Yuri.

"WE'RE NOT DATING YOU OLD HAG" Yuri yelled as he threw the rose away to a trashcan, and before it would get worse Otabek carried him away.

It was getting late and the smell of cooking ovens for dinner filled the streets, putting a smile on Yuri's lips. It also put a smile on Otabek's, but it wasn't because of the food, Yuri's smile was the one thing that made this man smile. Otabek was always good at hiding his emotions, and thanks to that Yuri hadn't found out his real feelings for him, but it was time to tell him how he felt and he found this holiday as the perfect time.
