I can't forget that night no matter how hard I try. It all happened when I was eight. I was so sad. It was very unusual for me. Terrible, yet amazing. Everything just happened all at once. But I wish it happened in better circumstances.
I got homework done from school, and the weekend rolled around. I was resting, and I heard something across the hall.
It was loud, and it sounded like arguing. Hesitantly, I looked through a small crack in between the door, and the wall. Inside the room, I saw something that I couldn't forget no matter how hard I try. I saw my parents arguing. Even hitting, and yelling at each other.
It was weird; they never fought. It was like something tore them apart. As I looked through the door, I started to feel tears snake down my face. I turned around and ran to my room filled with remorse. I lied in my bed, and pulled the covers over myself. I curled up and cried.
"Don't be sad," I heard something say. It was so sudden that I began to cry harder, becoming scared. "Don't be scared either," It spoke again. I wanted to know who was there, but I was too afraid to look up. Then it reached its hand out to me. "It's ok," it mumbled. I finally gained the courage, and I looked up. What I saw would change the way perceive the world. I saw someone that resembled a woman. But there was something different about it. It didn't have pupils, and it was almost transparent. It had a long dress with two shades of green.
"Who, and what are you???" I exclaimed as I slid back a little.
"Let me explain myself. My name is Sylvia. I am.......well, dead. But us dead beings, like the title spirits. I know, know, it's weird. But that's not all. I am here to guide you through your experience called life. I do know your name. Catrina is it? Oh yes. Don't worry. I will try my best to help you through your journey," She tried to explain. Then there was another voice.
"Don't forget about me!" The other spirit called. It made its way over to me, and smiled big. "I've been waiting to meet you for so long! Oh Cat......," it continued, "I'm your dead sister Lydia!" She tried to hug me, but I was still in shock. All of this was happening so fast!
"Well, it's nice to meet you both," I spoke calmly.
"One more thing, the necklace you're wearing will play a part in this journey as well. Treat it with care," she pointed to the the oblong diamond shaped charm on my necklace chain.
"Well then, bring it on!" I almost jumped in the air, as I was excited to start life a new.
