It's Not A Joke I Swear!: Kido x Kano

(Kano's POV)

  'Okay you got this, you talked it over with everyone in the Mekakushi-Dan, even Shintaro! They all agreed that I should just get it over with so let's do this!' I kept thinking that to myself over and over again, trying to keep my nerves at ease. I was waiting for Kisiragi-San to send a message saying everyone was gone so I could talk to Kido alone.
  After about twenty minutes I got a text saying the coast was clear. Taking a deep breath I smiled and walked out into the living room to see Kido reading a book Mary had suggested to her.

  "Kido~" I shoved my hands in my jeans pockets as I smiled leaning forward a bit, meeting her gaze as she closed her book and looked at me. "Hey Kano. Where is everyone? It's quieter than usual." Of course she noticed the silence right away but I needed it! I may not seem like it but when actually confessing things lots of people around tend to make me nervous. "They quickly walked out for a moment. Why are you worried something wrong will happen if they aren't  in your sights~?"
   Her eye twitched. Que to stop the jokes and just get to the point. "I'm just kidding~. They stepped out for a minute so I could tell you something..." I tapped the tip of my boot against the floor, keeping my smile and trying my best to avoid all the blood rushing to my face.

   "Oh. What do you need to tell me?" I smirked slightly at our leader "I wanted to tell you that I've had a crush on you for a while. I was also hoping that I could take our leader out on a date tonight~." I bowed slightly winking as I held out a flower, in a similar fashion I did when Kisiragi joined. I was so distracted in keping my cool that I failed to notice her gaze drift somewhere else before she got up and kneeled me in the gut, rendering me speechless.

  "Kano if this is another one of your jokes!" I could sense the anger in her voice, something I said must've set her off. "I s-swear it's....it's not a joke..." I stuttered slightly and took pants in between words, trying to regain my ability to breath. "What would...make you think....it was...a joke?" Our leader folded her arms across her chest as she looked away, her long green hair covering her face.
  "The date." What did the date have to do with- shit....I forgot. Today is April 1st....April fools day. Augh no wonder she thought it was a joke! This was definetly a bad day to confess.

  Gaining my strength back I quickly stood up and held my arms in front of me, just in case I needed to block another hit. "It's not a joke I swear!" Her jaw clenched as she twirled around to look at me, it wasn't  until then that I noticed her cheeks her slightly tinted a cute rosey pink color.
  "Then why did you say that on THIS day?!" "I forgot it was April fools day!" Sighing I stepped forward and grasped her arms and looked her directly in the eye, trying my best to keep a serious voice and tone. "Kido I've been avoiding telling you that I liked you for a long time. Today everyone told me to go for it and said they'd leave for a bit so I could tell you in a calm enviorment...I spaced what day it was and I'm sorry for that but I was serious."

  Her cheeks got darker and she averted her gaze away from me. I couldn't help but smirk a bit. "So leader will you please go on a date with me~?" I playfully purred the question but was still serious on the matter. It was silent and her face burned brighter than a tomato as she nodded her head yes. Grinning I pulled her into a tight hug "Let's go see that movie you've been wanting to see for a while ok? I'll pay for everything."

  She kind of sank a bit so her face was hidden against my chest, it was a poor attempt at hiding the blush I already saw but it was cute non the less~. I heard her quietly muster out a sentence, trying to keep her shaking voice as calm as she possibly could. "Okay but I pick where we sit and the time." Chuckling I nuzzled my head into her soft green hair on the top her head, the smile never fading from my face "Deal."
