"And you must be Alpha Reinhardt." Ryker bowed his head as a sign of respect despite looking uncomfortable in the current circumstances. Zander quirked a brow looking to me before glancing back towards the other alpha.

"I am." I watched Zane size Ryker up and down, his gaze finally settling on Ryker's face. "I assume you and my mate have settled things?" I noticed how Ryker tended and briefly settled his eyes on me, sorrow filling his gaze. I gave him a firm encouraging nod.

"Yes. There will be no problems for us other than the threat we will be facing." He lifted his chin up, walking closer and held out his hand. "I look forward to working with you," pausing he met my gaze, holding nothing but adoration and respect for myself. "Both of you."

I could feel Zane's mild shock from Ryker's polite and calm demeanor. He assumed he'd be facing a jealous and raging alpha male. A small smile lifted his lips up, and with a nod he held his own hand out clasping Ryker's in a firm shake.

"And I appreciate that. I too look forward to handling this threat once and for all." Zane released Ryker's hand replaced his own around my waist holding me firm. I rolled my eyes and looked at the gathering crowd.

"The rest of my pack has arrived, our training will speed up; longer days, harder regimes, and harsher expectations." The Seghar pack looked between each other as if they couldn't believe the training could be harder. "I do not know when the battle to come will arrive. All I know is that we will be ready. Understood?" Words of agreement and nods of understanding spread throughout the crowd. "Good. Now get back to it. I'll be back to oversee the trainings once more soon." I turned towards Jace who had walked up with a grin, he and Zane gripped a hold of each other's forearms.

"Good to see you back. Kick some ass?" Jace greeted Zander. My mate rolled his eyes but slid him a sly grin to which Jace laughed out loud before looking to me. "I'll take over these guys' training if you want to take Zander to settle in. I have Mira leading the rest to where the others are." He spoke of the makeshift camp my pack had set up.

"Thank you." I bowed my head in thanks before gripping Zander's hand in mine and tugging him towards the pack house. "That went better than I expected." I commented while sliding him a sideways glance before opening the door for the both of us.

"Aye. I wasn't expecting him to accept my presence quite so easily. Has he accepted your rejection?" He spoke of the bond between Ryker and I. I slowed my pace tilting my head and reaching out to the bond. I felt it, but it was fraying, leading me to believe Ryker was slowly, but surely, accepted the fact I was no longer his and he was no longer mine.

"I believe so. It might take a bit more but the bond is already weakening, more than it has in years." I was relieved knowing that one day we wouldn't be connected with the bond that had caused me so much pain. "Here." I pulled him to the door that led to the room I'd been staying in the past couple weeks. Opening the door I watched him breathe deep and relax.

"It smells like you." He walked in, shutting the door behind us. "And Goddess have I missed you." I didn't stop him when his mouth descended on mine.

"Love birds!" A muffled voice shouted through our door. I groaned lifting my head off of Zander's bare chest. "Time to get up!" I finally recognized the voice as Jace's. "C'mon. We need to formulate a plan now that everyone is here!" Sighing I thumped my head back on Zane's chest. He chuckled huskily running his fingers through my hair.

"Alright. Go gather everyone else. We'll meet you in Ryker's office." I knew my voice sounded rough but I didn't care as I stretched languidly against my mate's naked body. He groaned hands moving from my hair to grasp my rear end. I grinned and wiggled it teasingly before pulling away, eyes watching his eyes narrow with desire seeing nye own naked length as I climbed out of bed. "We can't stay in bed all day. We have responsibilities."

"Fine. But at least let me enjoy the view." We watched me dress before reluctantly getting up himself to dress. I'm some ways we matched. I wore a wine red button up blouse, my black slacks flaring out over my mating wine red flats. I pulled my hair back to a low set bun, a few pieces framing my face. Turning around I see him wearing black slacks pulling on a black buttons up shirt to which he swiftly buttoned. I grinned noticing the wine red socks he had on before he put his loafers on as well. Rolling up his sleeves he walked towards me grabbed my hand tightly bring it up to place a kiss to the knuckles. "I love you."

"And I love you." I returned the sentiment standing in my tip toes to place a kiss to his cheek. Then together hand in hand we made our way to Ryker's office.

We passed Jace banging on Austin's door, Alive and Tyler standing next to him with amused looks. Gabriel was walking towards them rolling the sleeves of his flannel up ready to tear into Austin; Austin was a heavy sleeper and always was a struggle to wake up.

Zander and I laughed together but continued on. I debated grabbing Sophie but figured she should get some time to be a teen so this meeting wasn't necessary for her to attend.

As we neared the office I tilted my head hearing a silent struggle before words broke free. A gasping female, one I was familiar with. "Ryker. Stop. Fight it!" It was a pleasing voice, one that made me speed up until I was bursting through the doors to Ryker's office. Was I see makes my blood boil.

Ryker had one hand holding Leah's, Tyler's mate not my old friend, wrists against the wall. His other hand swiftly reaching towards his belt buckle. Leah's eyes found mine and she pleaded with me for help.

Rage blinded me and I moved in without hesitation, without thinking of the possible consequences.
