"Reverse duck!"

Tommy was still busy reading his comics when Bradley and Jake had to force him out of the house. He wasn't paying attention to his surroundings.

"Reverse duck!"

"Reverse what?" asked Tommy with his eyes still on the colorful pages in front of him.

"Reverse duck, you idiot!"

"What duck? Where?" asked Tommy again. He didn't even have the time to put down his comics to focus on what his friends were doing when the black and white ball hit him square in the forehead.

"Ow!" screamed Tommy as he drops his comics to the ground.

"What the hell!" He screams again while rubbing his forehead.

Jack was laughing when he approaches him.

"That's what you get for being a stump, stumpy..[Laughing].." said Jack while picking up the ball.

Tommy then lunges at him with his right hand curled up into a fist.

"Tommy! Tommy!" Bradley immediately blocks his path before wrapping his arms around him.

"Let it go, man, let it go.." said Bradley.

"Yeah, man..why don't you let your comics go too while you're at it..maybe your reflexes will work better..[Laughing].." said Jack.

Tommy's face was turning red with rage.

"Take a break, Tommy..ok?..take a break..he's just kidding.."

"What the hell is a reverse duck anyway!" screamed Tommy.

[Laughing sound]

"It's the reverse of a duck..get it?..as in duck when you get down?..so reverse duck is when it's the other way around?..God, you're stupid.." said Jake while playing with the ball.

"It's called bending backwards, Jake..you don't really have to throw the ball into his face you know..you could have hurt him.." said Bradley while still holding onto Tommy.

"Yeah, whatever..at least I'm out here playing grown up sports..unlike stumpy here..[Laughing]..how's that superpower coming along? Can you fly yet?..[Laughing].."

Tommy shifts uneasily.

"Just let me at him once..just once.."

"No, man..no..that's exactly what he wants, ok..just let it go..it's not worth it..trust me.."

As much as Tommy hate to admit it, Bradley was right. At some point, you have to pick your battles. Jake then bounced the ball a few times on the ground before throwing it back at Tommy. This time, he was able to catch it.

"You guys sucks, I'm going home," said Jake before turning around and walking away.

Jonathan Weatherby a.k.a Jake was only a year older than the other two, yet he acted like he was already of legal age. The growth spurt he had been experiencing in the past year brought on a lot of changes in his life, aside from his size that is. He, however, wasn't always like that. Tommy Pheonix, Bradley Bewsher and him grew up together in the small town of Green Valley. When they were younger, they would spend hours playing together until their parents had to drag them home. All of them had lived in Arcadia Stream ever since they were born. The age difference was never an issue until Jake started hitting puberty. That was when he started to gain a few extra inches and pounds over his pals. His voice became deeper and his body gained more mass. Tommy and Bradley remained relatively petite compared to their "new giant friend." As drastic as that sounds, the change in his attitude was even worse. Jake was no longer interested in activities that was considered normal for a 13 year old. He started mixing with the older kids in town and occasionally, Tommy and Bradley would catch him smoking in the dark and isolated corners of the town, hanging out with his "gentleman's club" friends as he would call it, in spite the fact that he was the only one that uses that term. Bradley thinks that the only reason why he uses it was because the word "men" was in it, as opposed to "boys." Whatever the reason maybe, he acts, walks and talks like he was old enough to buy the next booze he sees in a liquor store. Tommy and Bradley can only put up for so long with his "adult" behavior.
