Chapter Three

I get more panicked with every step in the direction of hell. Not only am I currently failing but we have our final exams coming up in a couple of weeks and I just know Mr Gould is going to give me a lecture on how I need to up my game.

It's not my fault Maths makes no sense and it's not like I don't try.

I sit down every evening and definitely try to study, but TV is just so much more fun. I don't know what more he wants from me!

"Eh, I live in hope of a Wolves free world." She says waving her arm in an arch, trying to show me a dream I definitely know won't exist.

"You keep hoping Em." I say rolling my eyes. I freeze in the middle of the hallway when I see the most beautiful creature to walk the earth.

This guy has nothing on Mason, and Mason would easily get the part of an Abercrombie and Fitch model. Hell, he could probably even smooth talk his way into being one of Victoria's Angels.

No what walks before me is the hottest man to ever bless women kind's eyes with his presence. Although when he opens his mouth the illusion is ruined and you know he's just a jerk. As you may have worked out he is another member of the Wolves.

Adrian James. He may not be the leader of the Wolves, but he is certainly the hottest. As hot as hell. In fact, he is from hell.

He's the reincarnation of the Pinewood version of my brother. Only worse. My brother kept it to one a day. Girl over at 11, broken hearted in the morning. That was his routine.

All the girls knew what they were getting into - even if they thought they were different. He told them straight up it was a one night stand.

Adrian on the other hand commits sexual deeds all day and night. He leads girls on. Picks on the weakest ones and proceeds to make them feel special for the day or week, however long he feels like keeping them around, while fucking every bimbo in sight in every dark corner he sees.

Once he's romanced the girl enough to get her virginity he'll kick her to the curb. Telling her everything was a lie.

Taking her heart. Smashing it into pieces. Shooting it with a shotgun and leaving it to drown at the bottom of the ocean.

"Oi." Em says punching me in the arm hard. "Come back to the real-world Ash." She warns and I nod at her out of Adrian's trance.

I see the sadness behind her hard eyes and immediately regret ogling Adrian and getting lost in his looks.

"Sorry girl. Let's just go to class." I say taking her arm firmly and walking quickly, not wanting to spend any more time in Satan's line of sight.

For Em's sake and for mine.

We pass by the Devil rather too close for comfort in the busy hallway, close enough I can hear his conversation with his latest conquest and I can smell his amazing musky cologne.

"Come over tonight baby. I've got something special planned." He says to the girl and that snaps my ears right up and screws my head on straight.

Aiden James is a bastard. The lowest of the low, I should know this by now due to everything that's happened. Too bad I'm stupid enough to get caught up in his looks.

But then so is the rest of woman kind. So, I'm not alone in my stupidity.

"Urgh, I hate that asshole." Em growls, looking at no one in particular but causing some of the shyer members of our school to move out of her way.

When Em's angry you don't want to get in her way. Believe me, I've witnessed it first-hand. When riled her anger just creates a long string of insults, executed perfectly of course. She leaves the target unable to reply, shocked by how badly they were just destroyed.

So, when she says things like that in her low growly voice, people tend to keep their heads down. But they still look where they're going so they can move out of her way.

I realise you now must think that Em is some violent witch like the Queen Bee, attacking peasants that block her way. No, Em hates everyone no matter they're 'popularity status'.

If you annoy her or anger her you're on her radar for the rest of the day. In bad cases, sometimes the whole week.

But the next day she'll have forgotten all about you. Feelings out the window and she will once again be in a great mood, laughing along with me and other people in our class.

That what I like about Emma. Unlike most girls, she doesn't keep grudges for weeks on end. You anger her once and that's it, a onetime thing. She also gets on with everybody. She's not popular, but she will smile at everyone and talk with whoever she's sitting next to like they're friends.

Behind the eye liner and black clothing, she's a sweetheart. When she's not angry of course. That's how we became friends.

As the new girl, I didn't want any trouble or to anger anyone so I kept my head down and went to my classes. When I sat down in Maths next to the scary girl in all black she talked to me as if I was her best friend, which I now am, and invited me to sit with her for lunch.

"You know you really should get over him." I say.

Bad move, retreat! Abort mission! Retract words and run in the opposite direction very fast!

Em stops and turns to me a cold look on her face.

"I know." Well that was unexpected.

"Wait, you're agreeing with me?" She nods subtly. "Where's the wrath of fury? Where's the 'Don't you think I haven't tried that yet?' lecture?" I stand there shocked infront of her.

She just rolls her eyes at me.

"Well I've made a new year's resolution to stop fighting you when you're right." She says and I give her the same look I did when she challenged me about the Halloween mask.

"Again. It's November." She doesn't care, she shrugs at me and wanders into the classroom on our left.
