Ezriah had chocolate skin and dark intelligent eyes. His hair was cut neatly and short. He wore rectangular glasses with golden rims.

"I'm Jade. And this is Charlie, my little brother." Jade pointed towards Charlie, who was stuffing meat into his cheeks.

"Okay, let's get started. Which of you has the element?" Ezriah sat behind a mahogany wooden desk and folded his hands, looking from Charlie to Jade.

"What?" The confused siblings said in unison. Charlie was paying more attention now.

"Well, one of you has to have an element. Our radar showed power coming from someone." Ezriah thought for a moment as Jade stared at him like he was mad. "I understand. You two have no idea what I am talking about, do you?"

"No,"Jade answered quietly. "What is an element?"

Ezriah got into a comfortable position, obviously about to talk for a while. "An element is like a spirit. It rests inside a single person at once. This person has the element his or her whole life. The element allows the holder to use it. For example, my element is ore. I can pull gold, silver, and copper from the ground with a simple twist of my hand. I-"

"Wait a minute," Jade interrupted. "you're saying that Charlie or I have an element spirit inside of ourselves? I think you have the wrong people, because neither Charlie nor I have ever done anything supernatural."

"What I was about to say was that I didn't discover my element until I has fifteen. I don't know why Zagarous, the dragon, brought both of you to camp, because our radar only showed enough element power for one person. One of you have an element, no doubt." Ezriah answered with confidence, waiting for Jade's reaction. Nothing had happened lately that had anything to do with elements. Except the tornado.

"Your radar must have picked up the tornado that destroyed our house." Jade spoke up.

"No. Our radar only picks up elements. Now, you and your brother will be tested for elements. After that, you can eat." Ezriah had been clear that this was the end of the conversation. He used a telephone on his desk to call a person to guide the sister and brother to the testing room.

A girl in her teens opened the door a second after Ezriah hung up. Her red-brown hair was put back into three thin long braids. It looked as though the three braids were braided together to create one. It was all very confusing. She was wearing an orange T-shirt and tan shorts.

"Both of them?" The girl asked Ezriah.

"Yes."

"Come on." The girl started to leave and Jade and Charlie followed. "My name is Vixen, you?"

"I'm Charlie. That's Jade." Charlie spoke as the trio walked up the staircase. The next floor was identical to the bottom, only there was not a door leading outside. There was a large window at the end of the hallway, allowing light to reflect off the mirrors.

Vixen opened a mirrored door and they walked into a medium sized room. It was smaller than the introduction room. There were four hospital beds. Jade thought this looked exactly like a hospital. All types of syringes and fluids decorated the walls and the large white desk in the corner. A boy about 16 had blood flowing into his left arm. He looked like he had gotten in a fight. The other beds were empty.

A women who looked exactly like Katherine, only wearing a white nurse outfit, was sitting behind the desk. Her name tag read:

Hi! My name is Tori!

Tori nodded at Vixen in dismissal and she left. "I'm Tori, camp nurse. My element is herbs. Please lay down on a bed and wait while I test." Jade obeyed, helping Charlie onto his bed. She laid down and Tori poked her with a syringe. Jade started getting sleepy very fast.

Why was she trusting these people? They could be evil. Jade had no other choice, though. Did she have elemental blood? Did Charlie? What was going to happen?

Soon, Jade slipped under a dreamless veil of sleep.
