The battle with the bitter cold was a very hard one for ref the oshawott, pika the pikachu, and the rest of team garnet, but in the end they were victorious. There was a celebration to be had but two individuals: ref and hydregon.
Hydregon: you know your time in this world is up right?
Ref: I know but I don't want to leave
Hydregon: you don't have a choice
Ref really didn't want to go but in the end, he knew hydregon was right. He was the voice of life after all. So ref prepared to leave.
The next day pika was looking for ref in the house they shared
Pika: REF!!!!
Pika looked through the house until she saw a note. Horrified, she ran out to the rest of the team.
Scraggy: whoa where's the fire?
Keldo: yea what's wrong
Pika: THIS!!! She shows the group the note and everyone gasped as they read it.
The note: dear friends, i am sorry to inform you that my time in this world is over. If i stay any longer the world will collapse so I'm going home. I'm sorry i couldn't tell you in person but i just couldn't do it
Goodbye forever, ref
The entire group cried. They had just lost a leader, friend, and to a certain pikachu, a crush.
Up in the sky, a glowing ref was floating off with hydregon*
Hydregon: ready to go home?
Ref: i guess so. He sighs and looks down at paradise one last time. Goodbye my friends... Forever. And with that he disappeared in a flash of lighy
