Before the light, all she could see was darkness.

No, it wasn't the kind of darkness where it was filled with malice, cruelty, discomfort, and fear. That darkness was different. That darkness was the kind of darkness that pushes you with determination to press yourself against the wall, in fear that something may sneak behind you. That darkness would be the one to fill your thoughts with chaos and suffering, until you wish for the end of your life—but that's the thing, your life has already ended, and you will remain to suffer in that darkness for eternity. No, this darkness was different.

This darkness was the darkness that you see on a peaceful night, minus the stars that'll illuminate the surroundings. This was the darkness that gives off a breeze, a peaceful aura, like warm cocoa on rainy nights. Hazel very much liked this darkness, it had reminded her of a life before.

She didn't know if her eyes were open or not. She tried to feel with her hands, but nothing came to contact. It was as if she was floating off into space, forever reaching for the stars that weren't even there.
