Finally!, Louis thought as the bell rang for 6th period to be over. He pulled his schedule from his back pocket and unfolded it. At the bottom, it said, Homeroom Room 213 Antoinette Grayson.
Damn, Louis thought. Of all people.
With a sigh, Louis made his way to room 213. He didn't bother stopping to get his stuff from his locker. He would do that after class. Him and his friends were going to their usual hangout before heading over to Andy's house where they were spending the night.
He suspected he would be the only one there since it was early but to his surprise, when he walked into the room, there was none other than the girl that had watched their impromptu practice yesterday.
Louis could feel his heart quicken. He was confused by this sudden onset of emotion. He didn't know this girl and he didn't think he was attracted to her but her presence had been weighing on him since he saw her yesterday.
Louis had no idea who she was or even that she went to this school. Andy seemed to know her and went on a 20 minute rant about how pretentious she was, and thought she was better than everyone, and how she acted all smart because she knew about Shakespeare and whatever.
Andy's argument had sparked his interest. Louis had always liked Othello and he desperately wanted to discuss the play with someone and the movie that was made in its likeness. But he dare not bring that up in front of anyone.
Louis made his way up the stairs of the theatre style seating. She seemed to be reading and not paying him any attention. He quietly took his seat behind her, and she still did not look up.
He didn't know what to do. Should he do anything?
He was about to clear his throat to get her attention when the door opened.
"Can't believe we have this old bat for homeroom", he heard Andy grumble.
"Oi! Tommo! You're here before us." Casey called up to him.
They both took their seats next to Louis and began chatting about football. Louis barely listened as students poured into the classroom, the warning bell ringing.
Mrs. Grayson followed with a stack of papers in her hand. Louis groaned.
This woman always had some sort of paperwork to carry around.
The bell rang and everyone sat in their seats. The girl in front of him closed her book. Louis peered over her shoulder to see what she was reading and to his surprise...it was Othello!
"Alright, role call!" Mrs Grayson shouted. "If you don't know, this is homeroom for everyone S-U in the alphabet based on last name. If that ain't you, get the heck outta here."
The class chuckled and Mrs. Grayson began role call.
"Alex Santana"
"Here."
"Casey Soros"
"Here"
"Destiny Taddino...Not here...Okay"
"Dorothea Talley"
"Here", the girl infront of Louis said.
Dorothea Talley, thats her name, Louis thought. Last named pronounced Tail-ee.
He had seen the name before. Dorothea always won the reading points contest each year and she also was always listed on the A honor roll that was posted on the bulletin board in the hallway next to the team rosters.
Dorothea...pretty name for a pretty girl.
Louis decided to take in her appearance a little more. Her hair was light brown, almost blonde and in those box braids that were popular now. They were twisted up into a neat little bun on top of her head, with a few of the braids hanging down to frame her face. Her entire frame was very elegant.
