Since that first day

The distance between us

~Shawn's POV~

Distance??? What does that mean? I think as I get ready for school. When I go downstairs, my little sister, Aaliyah, asks me "How was your date?"  " I don't wanna talk about it," I tell her. " And it wasn't a date." I add. " Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning" Aaliyah says. " Shut up" I say. " Sorry." she says and walks away. Maybe I should have been nicer, but she was getting on my nerves. I get in my car, driving to school. When I walk inside, I immediately spot Camila. She's standing by her locker, talking to her friends. Yay for me, I think sarcastically. Her locker is right next to mine, so I get to see her. When I get to my locker, the girls all look at one another. Camila nods and Ally says, " Well we're gonna go. " They all say bye and we're left standing in awkward silence. " So." I say. "So" she says. " I'm sorry for kissing you." I tell her. " It's ok I mean, I kissed you too." "So we good? Or..." I trail off. " Yea. I guess, we should go to class." she says, just as the bell rings. " Yea. Wanna walk together?" I ask awkwardly.

~Camila's POV~

"Sure" I say. We walk towards creative writing in awkward silence. When we get there, the teacher tells us that we are going to work on projects. " We'll be doing them in partners." she says. " Here are your partners: 1. Austin and Ally. 2. Camila and Shawn. 3. Ethan and Bella....." she tells us. Oh great I think. " Oh and one more thing before you go." dhe says as we're packing up. " You are going to have to work on these at home, we don't have time to do them in class."        I sigh. Shawn comes up to me asking if I want to start tonight. " Sure" I say, even though I really don't want to.  "Ok, I'll text you later I guess." he says walking away.

~Shawn's POV~

Camila comes over at 7 to work on our project. We sit there for a few minutes, not knowing what to say. Finally, I break the silence. " Ok, I can't stand this-this awkwardness.  We're better then this. This isn't the us that I know. I miss the way that we used to be. Maybe  we're too different. I can't stand the distance between us. I guess we just need time." I say. " Ok." she says quietly. Then she leaves.
