"Let's go let's go let's go let's go let's GO!!"

"Calm the fuck down Ren," I could hear Rouge's words, but they barely registered. I had been looking forward to this for days. No one could dampen my mood.

I hopped into the front seat of our van, shutting the door and leaning out the open window.

"Y'all are slow!" I laughed.

"Ren," Tate took shotgun. "My god we're just going to -"

"The ZOO," I sang. "My second home!"

"Well someone's a little excited," Lil climbed in the van sitting directly behind Tate.

"Just a bit," I turned and grinned at her.

"I swear Ren if you don't shut up this instant you will not live to see your next birthday," Rouge threatened, pulling the side door shut.

I beamed, but said nothing. As soon as we were all in the van - "Rouge. Seat belt." - I hit the gas and took off. We were at the entrance in a matter of minutes.

I skipped down the sidewalk, through the doors, and down the hallway, only pausing once to flash my membership card at the teenager manning the front desk.

"Oh course," Rouge said when she caught up. "you have a membership."

"Oh shut up," I laughed, glancing around. "Where should we go first?"

"Are there wolves here?" Tate instantly asked.

"Well yeah they're over by the -"

"LEGGO," she took off in the direction I had pointed. Rouge followed.

"I haven't run this fast in DAYS," she yelled before disappearing around the corner.

"They're gonna get so lost."

After a bit of searching, Lil and I found them in front of a large exhibit displaying various rocks surrounding a large pool. Bits of shrubbery were placed strategically about the enclosure in attempt to create a "natural" feeling. I sighed. I loved the zoo, but these animals deserved some much better than what any zoo could give them.

"You went the wrong way," I observed, waking up to the pair.

"No duh," Rouge muttered as a river otter happily bounded across the habitat.

Minutes later, we were walking down a long narrow path. The walls were designed to look cave-like, the floor rough and uneven.

"Hey guys look this floor is rough just like -" Tate began.

"There they are!" I interjected.

They were truly majestic creatures. Their fur ranging from pure silver to snow white to midnight black. Some paced about the enclosure, while others napped in the lush green grass.

But there was one wolf that stood out among the rest.

"Oh my god..." Tate gaped in amazement.

She was stunning. Majestic and jet black, sunset yellow eyes gazed about the clearing. She seemed to absorb the light, yet radiated a certain, powerful energy.

It was obvious she was meant to roam. Not pace in a cage. Roam.

"She doesn't deserve this..." Tate whispered, stepping as close to the fence as she could.
